Porky but still hot
I actually don't mind the boomerang lights (at least in the back). The front looks a bit awkward, but it depends on the pics. I am sure in person it'll look better.
Part of the problem is the offset and the ride height. Lower the ride height with some fresh springs and change the rear offset by 5% and it looks good.
Finally: the VQ should be EOL (end of lifed) at these large sizes. 3.7 liters? Crazy. I think we need a step backwards in time to a 3.0 with a turbo. Maybe even smaller, like 2.8.
It seems that the new Z has priced itself out of range, ala the old 300z. No wonder that people are talking about the new Silvia.
But Nissan wants to have two Halo cars and entry and a 911 killer.
Plus all this R&D happened before the recession.

Ok, granted that car prices are not that more expensive inflation adjusted or otherwise, the upcoming Z might be closer to cresting 40k for the top model. Not too many Base Zs are sold anyway. Enthusiasts are the real high sale items.
The point is, is that Nissan is bumping the Z up to make room for another model, or commodity prices have pushed up the costs.
Well in 09 there are only 2 trims. . . Base and Touring and you can get the sport package on either. I think when the pricing is released you will see that it no more expensive than the exiting model with same appointments.
In 1996 a loaded TT model tickled the 40 grand mark. Here we are 12/13 years later and we get a car that out performs it in every way, and it still comes in cheaper.
Nissan is not driving the cost up and there is plenty of room for them to make another model, which i think has been shelved anyway.

Hey Marty, what have you seen or heard about this. When i was at a Cars and Coffee meet organized by NNA employees, it was said that projects of this nature have been terminated until further notice. I wasnt surprised one bit when i heard it. I never thought they would bring back an entry level RWD coupe anyway.

But we will see what Nissan has cooking. Probably most manufacturers have shelved many niche cars, as their R&D is about the same, but volumes drastically different. There might be 1 generation dry spell before something new peformance oriented comes out, or might be recaast as a hybrid like the CR-Z.
