Default Insurance increase??

Im kind of curious, but do you guys think my insurance will go up more than a 100 dollars a month to cover this vehicle?

I have a 95 eclipse gsx and only pay liabilty at 62 dollars a month at the moment. This will be my first brand new car, and Im scared at what my insu might go up to with a brand new car and full coverage. I have never been in a wreck or had any marks on my record. This will also only be a weekend driver.

Im 26 by the way and very scared. I am so tired of paying for bad and uninsured drivers.

Are you married? I would not be surprised if it shot up to 150-170 a month...

No, and thank God except in this situation. LOL. Im really worried about this. It is the only resaon I havent gotten something new in a while. I hate getting assraped by the insu companies because others are horrible drivers. I mean my GSX is pretty quick, but it is old and her time is near. I will miss the AWD experience though.

Should I set up a fake marriage to get cheaper rates?

Ummm do what I do. Have your dad buy your Z in his name and register it under his name and the insurance is through him.

If you're going to get a loan on the car, then most banks require that you have full coverage on the car. That raise alone from liability on a Sport-Compact to full coverage on a newer, Sports-Car will probably be more than $100. I'm 20 and pay 293/month for full coverage with $500 deductibles. But I also have 3 moving violations and a not at fault accident on my record.

Call whoever insure's you now, and find the VIN number of a car that's for sale. Since they're your current provider, they should be able to give you a very accurate quote

EDIT: Just because your current provider might seem too high, doesn't mean you can't shop around for a new insurance company. If your eclipse is currently listed as a commuter / daily driver, then you should receive a discount if you let them know that you'll only be driving it on the weekends (as you stated)

If 100-200 for insurance a month is gonna break you --- then you should not be looking at ANY new cars especially if you are only carrying bare bones liability right now.

FWIW- With State Farm I have listed my 05 Pathfinder, 07 Z, 07 CBR1000rr, 87 & 89 325is---- all for $249 a month--Full coverage-- but you should really be looking at the amount of liability coverage you have. Im at 100k/250k/100k and I still feel underinsured.29/single - not even a parking ticket in 7+ years.

It wont break me by any means, but that isnt the point. I just dont want to be paying a rediculous amount of money into literally thin air. I mean I havent been in a wreck or gotten an infraction since I have been driving, and of course i dont get any money back from the thousands I have layed down over the years. Sure my rates havent gone up, but do I get anything back, Nope. Thats my only gripe. I also dont want to be putting down as much on insu as I am on my car note. That is just wrong on so many levels.

By the way I live in New Orleans and we have some of the highest rates if not the highest in the country cause of all the uninsured trash that chooses to drive around here. It just pisses me off to much.

On another note. I only carry liability since my car is a 95, and I very rarely drive it.
