SyncroRev match
No we did not.... No brake, does not matter what speed you are going, or what gear you are in - works right up to redline. You can even skip gears and get a dead on match.
This was a very quick test drive, we only had an hour, and we were on a public road so we could not get on it hard. We will do more testing next week when we have the car for a few days.

When you start the car it is on, this is the default, you have to turn it off each time you start the car. If you can get your hands on the media intro guide you can read more about it. Beyond that, wait for them to hit the dealers and do a test drive.
I mean other features stay how they are through resets (radio preset, climate control, heated seat functions, high beams, etc.); just not VDC and this thing.
I couldn't disagree more with the 'notchy clunky gearboxes" comment on 350Zs. Both my street and race 350Zs have beautiful actions in the riflebolt-like shifter. If you know how to heel-and-toe downshift, the shifts are light, easy and direct. As for "getting in gear quickly is hampered by something getting in the way", what you're referring to is the syncromesh mechanism that matches the speed of the input shaft with engine RPM. That was a great advance at one point and anyone who has driven a dogring racing or non-synco gearbox can attest.
The point is, while Nissan developed another technological wonder in SyncroRev, don't discount how GOOD gearboxes have become, especially with the 009 version 350Z 'box!

BTW, i am still on 001 version with 89K miles. I can induce the 3rd and 5th gear grind issue by sloppy shifting, but 99.9% of the time i can shift it quick and smooth without issue. Rev match is essential on downshifts.
I think the auto rev match on downshift will teach drivers the correct way to downshift and save alot of tranny tear ups.

Is this Nissan's solution to the infamous bad synchro problem for the 350z? It looks cool and all, but still not sure how it feels when doing spirited driving.. Going to feel awakard without heel/toe.
Then there are those people that own MT that start hating on the people that got Autos.
If rev matching is all about keeping RPM high and close to 'ideal' speed, watching the video with RevMatch off RPM drops to 4500, with RevMatch on it drops to 4800.
So it's only 300RPM difference? am I missing something?

So I like how it tells you what gear you are in now
I've always wanted that in a MT car on the gauge...thought it would be a cool feature.
Oh well. I can live with the 350 for now

If you get to know your car well you'll be able to determine the gear, revolutions, and speed of the car. It becomes second nature how much to blip the throttle depending on what gear you are in and how fast your car is going (i.e., how fast the wheels are spinning). Don't look at the numbers or think about how much in terms of RPM.
Rev matching is not rocket science... you can Google for explanation:

I don't use the heel-toe technique since I don't track my car, but I do rev match when I downshift so I can engine brake as well as leave it in gear for safety reasons. Nothing new there either, but I was a noob once ('03 Z being my first back in 2002). It is a very rewarding feeling once executed properly.
Oh I got a good one for you guys... I wonder if the system can be defeated by blipping the throttle before the computer takes over when downshifting. If it works this way, I'm sure we can daily drive with the system defaulted on without intrusion and manually blip the throttle at our convenience.
