if you want a better 0-60 go waist the other 20 30 40 50 grand on something faster...
the reason it "sux" to you is because you dont concider that performance cost money its not like someone just decides were going to make a 4 second 0-60. its research and development mpg always in mind.

not really caring how much faster it is on the straight. I mean honestly guys if u want a really fast drag car, go get yourself a Evo or STI. But what most Z owner wants is a much better balanced ride especially cornering and stability. Not to mention, the much needed refinements on interior.

uuhhh evos and sti's corner very well.... if you want a fast straight line car, pick up and old F-body drop 3-5 grand in it and head to the track....

The R&D 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds was taken in Japan way above sea level... They stated in the article that they think they could get around 4.9 time at sea level...

Also the 08-09 models is like 5.3-5.5 seconds depending on which magazine you read..

And a 3.69 final drive. The car should be 4.5 with a good driver mod. In the vid you can clearly see the car wheel hopping on the take off. FAIL.

OP needs to appreciate the fact the Z accelerates faster than the speed at which Vista can boot up on a RAID 0 VelociRaptor setup. If that's not fast enough, let Chuck Norris drive your car.

I think everything about the 370Z base is better than my '03 Enthusiast. I'm already content with my Z, so I don't think I can complain about a 370Z Base + Sport Package.

Quick car being a Sti or EVo times are about 5.0 -5.3 for the non mod Sti and 4.9-5.1 for the Evo non mod their strengthens are the cheap mods. We all wanted a car as quick as a Evo 0-60 now we have one thats probably faster and classier in that it looks like a Porsche (sorta). Not to mention better handling.

What are you guys bitching about??? The only thing these other cars have on us now is AWD and winter time better driving control.

The 370Z Rocks!!

Case in point? These same magazines have times posted for my car ranging from 13.7 to 14.0 in the 1/4 mile.

My car was 100% bone stock at the time and my first pass ever was at 3200DA and I ran a 13.4 @ 105mph on a 2.1 60ft... when I got the chance to run in good weather (-303ft DA) I went 13.1 @ 108mph on a 2.1 60ft. Then the Fiancee ran the car at 127ft DA and went 13.1 @ 105mph on a 1.99 60ft.

We are not even close to the talented drivers who hold records and I consider myself to be an average joe. These magazine times are good for getting an idea of what the car will do but they are no where near what the car is actually capable of.

Furthermore...reading that article you will see this... "3.5-liter Nismo 350Z we tested in 2007, which ran 4.9 and 13.5 at 103.9"... compare that to several members on this site...

1. Pat Bateman ---------------------07 Base 6spd 13.150@107.62mph 2.027 60ft
2. Veetec --------------------------07 Base 6spd 13.157@105.32mph 1.938 60ft
3. Peak350 -------------------------07 Enth 6spd 13.239@105.67mph 1.923 60ft

Just looking at those results and seeing other people posting up 4 tenths quicker... hmmm.. if that same mag runs 13.3 and someone on here can knock off 4 tenths..you are looking at least 13 flat (and sub 4.5 0-60 times).... who is to say this one won't have even more in it than the last one?

I do agree that many 370z owners will run times faster than the Magazines. That's the case with all cars (GTO's, Vettes, STi's, EVOs, etc). Just go to the drag racing section of one of their forums and you'll see times .3-.5 tenths faster than the Magazine tests.
I know over at LS2GTO.com they have a long list of guys that have run 12.9s in stock GTOs, but those times are not representative of what the "Average Joe" runs in a stock GTO.

And the same can be said for the upcoming 370z. For every 370z owner that pulls a 12.9, there will be dozens of other guys running mid 13s (just like the Magazine times).

So the Magazine times (especially Motortrend and Car and driver which usually produced very good times out of their testing) do represent what the car runs (on average).

To prove my point just look at the 1/4 mile times from this forum. By the time you get to number 10, you're already looking at 13.6s.

10. jdifolco -----------------------07 Tour 6spd 13.644@104.68mph 2.201 60ft
11. DomZ ---------------------------03 Tour Auto 13.667@101.57mph 1.996 60ft
12. pistols07Z ---------------------07 Base 6spd 13.675@102.31mph 2.150 60ft
13. BriGuyMax ----------------------03 Tour 6spd 13.688@102.77mph 2.091 60ft

No... They did not say 4.9 would be the time they said "sub 5 seconds' I think. That could be anything from 4.9 down to 4.6!!

We will see. Not like we will all be doing a ballz out 0-60 run every time we stop.... maybe....

For what it is, I am more than satisfied with this Z. I was really satisfied driving the 09 Maxima despite what the critics say. In this case, the critics really like the Z so I am sure I will LOVE the Z; maybe even more than my wife and two baby girls!!!

Well said, the average joe will probably match the magazine times or do slightly worse. The average joe isn't capable of extracting the full potential of the car anymore than the magazine drivers are in most cases. (always exceptions like Evan Smith)
