Quote from Car and Driver:

Platform Alphabet Soup and a Smaller Sporty Nissan

While the original Z rode on Nissan’s FM (for front-midship) platform, the 2009 370Z rides on the new E platform that encompasses former FM vehicles as well as some international vehicles on the FR-L architecture, which denotes “Front-engine, Rear-drive, and Large”—all part of Nissan’s platform consolidation efforts. The 370Z will share the E platform with much of the Infiniti lineup, including the FX, EX, M, and G coupe and sedan.

This quote is representative of what's wrong with a lot of people on this forum. Someone who knows nothing posting info that isn't true. Thanks for posting factual info Zero. If you (mydogscool) don't like how the 370Z is built then you don't like how any of Infiniti's RWD vehicles are built because the 370Z it built on the same platform as all of them. Good luck on that homework, we just gave you a cheat sheet so hopefully you'll get the correct info soon...

The 370Z platform is related to the new Maxima only when the Maxima is in reverse...

The headlights on the 370z are the same as on the new maxima. Haven't you seen the new Maxima?
You need to do the homework. They are not the same platform.

Maxima, Altima, Murano, Rogue, Sentra all share the same platform.

350z, G35, M35/45, FX35/45, EX35/45 all share the same platform.

Maxima has nothing that the Z has except maybe a few electronics.
