i thought the sycro rev only worked for downshifts...
I would be curious about up-shifting and automatic rev-matching? I shift at 2,000 or 6,500 RPM. Don't recall doing anything special with the RPM to “match” anything. Match what?
The transmission will allow you to shift "up" at any RPM.
I tried it today, and you would have to be coasting for awhile and let the rmp's drop all the way down then go to a higher gear and it does raise the rpm's a bit.
I don't think that it rev matches on upshits. I have been driving mine for a week now and don't notice a rpm match when shiting from 1-2-3-4. I believe it rev matches only on down shifting. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't notice any change of RPM on upshifts.
STLZ is correct: It only works on downshifts. Funny how many posts go on with these boards from people who are speculating on bad info...
Watch the video that I MADE and POSTED to this thread, and report back with your findings, chief.
OK, so this is me, hat in hand, feeling like a flaming idiot... I watched the video, still didn't believe, tried it and... guess what? It does, in fact, match revs on the upshift. Who knew? I've driven 950 miles so far, with the system engaged the whole time, and never even noticed it. Someone said, you barely notice when you're speedshifting... Don't know if you'd classify my stick work at "speed" shifting (hey, I've been driving SUVs for the past 20 years!), but I had to leave the clutch in and look at the tach to actually see the effect. You can clearly hear the engine rev for downshifts. You don't really notice that it stops dropping after losing only about 1K RPM on the upshifts -- especially if you're just rowing along. It's very inobtrustive.
Anyway, my apologies, Roast. I've seen many of your other posts and I never should have doubted you. Good video, good photos, good reviews.
