Question about trading up from 350z to 370z when car isn't paid off.
Sorry, the upgrade from a 350z to a 370z is not *that* big. If your talking about a difference in performance like going from a 350z to a 911 GT3, ok maybe I could see it. But its not that huge of a difference in performance, compared to what your going to be pissing away in terms of extra money down the road.
The bottom line is, you posted the thread and asked for opinions and several people gave you them, which you seem to disagree with. Its your money, nobody is trying to tell you how to spend it, just give you some advice. And before you go and do it, here are a couple things to think about:
1) Not that I really care, but what age range are you in? Just out of high school? In college, or almost finished? Out of college with a job? Married with kids? What kind of monthly debt do you currently have?
2)Do you rent an apartment? Do you foresee possibly buying a house in a couple years if you don't own one now?
3) Do you have a good job that you feel is stable? Do you have some money put away for a safety net?
I only ask these questions because I have been in a situation like this before. I would LOVE to get my hands on a Nismo 370z. However, I've been paying $450-500 a month for my 350z now for 4.5 years and am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm happy with the way she runs, looks, sounds and have no real reason to upgrade at this point and would love that extra money to do stuff to the house and pay down some remaining debt I have. To me, right now, owning a car will be so much nicer than paying for the latest and greatest, especially at a possibly higher cost.
In any case, its your money. You can do whatever you want with it. Just keep in mind any long-term goals you may have and other inconsistencies life may throw at you. Good luck and happy holidays!

I'm 30. Been to college, not married, no kids. I'm going to buy a house this year but the monthly payment won't be more then 1-200 more then I'm already paying for the townhome I live in. I am in a serious relationship that may include having a kid in the next year or 2 though. And before anyone says anything about that, I'm never getting rid of my 1 sports car. She loves it too and we've already discussed that
She has her own 4 door Mazda6 anyway and works herself instead of bumming off me all day.
I have a stable job, lots of room to grow. I don't have the safety net that I would like to have though, I've never had one really (savings wise). I do have a plan though now, previously I didn't. I just flew by the seat of my pants.
Right now, with everyone's suggestions I'm thinking I will just pay off my current 350Z within the next few years and then keep it as a DD til she gets near 200k miles (Only at 45K right now). I'll see what's out when it's paid off and go for something much faster as a more leisure/cruisin ride to take to the track some times as well.
