Default May be trading the 335i cabrio for 370Z???

I currently have a 2007 BMW 335i cabrio. I looked at the 350Z convertible before I bought but I just liked the 335 better back then.

Now I am sick of the body shake from the cabrio and tired of the 400 lb. penalty from the folding hard top. I am also tired of shifting the 6MT. I have tuned it to approx. 380 HP but still it has its drawbacks.

So tomorrow I am going to the dealership to look at a 370Z touring with auto. I am also checking out the Mitsubishi Evo, which I am thinking looks better on paper that in real life.

So perhaps I will do a write up in a few days of my impressions and I intend to lurk here a lot.

Why do people take such offense to people who don't like to drive sticks?

What tune did you have on you 335, Dinan, Vishnu?

The 370 Convertible is nice with the top down, the 370 just needs to be lowered a bit.

The Evo X looks better in person IMO.

Happy hunting.

I was originally going to get an 07 montego blue 335i. But stuck with the 370z in the end. Not saying the 335i is a bad car or anything, its a great car.

I REALLY want to drive a 335i, and a 370z.

My Fiance can not drive stick and definitely not around los angeles, plus i dont want to load the car with miles for my daily driving.

The Evo X is nice, looks amazing in my eyes but I still feel like im driving a cracker box car when your just running day to day errands. Lady at my local dealer back home was trying to sell me one when i was shopping last so we took it for a long drive, just didnt do it for me.

Im wondering how happy i would be with the "paddle shift" on the 370z for "enthusiast" driving.

Point is i never thought i'd say it but i feel you on the auto thing at times.

Soooo you want to go slower? Get a Juicebox chip and be happy running 11's in your 335.

I would be interested to see what the dealer will offer you on a trade. Please let me know.

Because deep down inside it's actually they who are the girls and are too insecure with their manhood to drive an AT. So they feel the need to put others down and make up for their insecurities.

You need the chip plus supporting mods to do 11's. Very doable though.

What is the point of buying a sports car with AT? Should this be for the pure joy of driving/shifting gears/having control? Not just showing off that you have a so-called sports car?

I was driving AT Cayenne so I have nothing against AT for "regular cars." For me MT=sports car, AT=everything else.

I disagree...

A true drive may love everything about the sports car but knows the manual is not practical for his life situation. SOOO he gets it in a AT for the simply fact he wants to implement it in their life as much as possible.

WHEN i buy my next sports car it will be AT... why my fiance has to drive it to school because i would put a MILLION miles on it for work and its not practical for work. So if i want a second car it has to fit my life style and situation.

Didn't even notice someone replied to me. I'll put it to you this way, try making the same argument for Formula One cars. Or, on a more realistic level, I guess by that reasoning, you somehow don't consider Ferraris and numerous Porsches with DCTs, or even the GTR a sports car? A sports car is more than just a transmission. The bottom line is that the 5AT is shifts extremely quick, has a manual mode, revmatches on a downshift and is a very well suited unit for the 350Z.

Is the 6MT more fun? Yes. But it's also a lot more unreliable, requires more maintenance, and for the daily drivers who live in congested areas (such as NYC) not practical for heavy traffic.

lol what? how is a manual transmission more unreliable? and any marginally higher costs of added fluid maintenance are usually offset upfront by the cost of adding an optional automatic.
