Default Pricing on a used 370Z

Went on autotrader and did a search for the 370z..and there is some bare bone cars starting at 25K...with about 10K miles..fairly cheap considering some people are asking that if not more for their 350's.

Makes no sense.

$25k seems fair since since they start off at $29.9k. Edmunds TMV for the base M/T is $25.9k and private party $24.1k.

Doesn't sound too far off since i only paid $36k for my brand new 09 loaded touring model w/sport wheels. And just because those people are ASKING more for 350s doesn't mean they'll get anywhere near that.

Actually invoice for an 09' base is 28,050. If you can get ahold of one for 25-26 with 10k miles, that would be a steal, the resale on these cars is going to be high so thats actually a good deal.

Why, and who says so? I'm not doubting it, just curious. I figured maybe because it was a first year of a new body style, but I'm not seeing that trend in the previous models unless you date all the way back to the 240Z.

I don't see any 09s still on the lot, though invoice for the 2010 only went up slightly to $28,099. If an 09 still exists on the lot and I was the buyer, I'd try to negotiate into the $500-700 holdback on it, though buying a used one with a few miles is a much better deal in my opinion.

Nissan is producing less than half the numbers of the 350 per year. So far the sales numbers of the 370Z have been extremely low and are declining month to month. The availability isnt as plentiful as the 350 was, which would lead one to believe that resale will be rather high. I went to the stealership last week, they had a repossessed MB 370 w/ sport package selling for 30k, if thats any indication of how well they'll hold up.

hahahahaha. multiple nismo 370z's w low miles (sub 10k) are selling at >$30k.
you should be able to cop a base 370z w similar miles for >$25k (unless you
don't know how to negotiate - i.e. telling a dealership to **** off and walk out).

oh wait. you live in canada. you may have to travel to the states to get
what you want and deal with vat on the way back in. heard that's pricey.... ))

Sadly, I don't see that happening nor is one data point an indication. Even special anniversary editions are almost completely depreciated. The first and last year 300ZX TT sell for 1/4 of what they cost new in 1990 and 1996 (1990 was the most production, 1996 was the least production). The 40th anniversary 370Z will depreciate the most, as do most limited-run or special edition vehicles.

At this point, it's all speculation. I understand the laws of supply-and-demand, but I expect them to depreciate at a standard 7-12% per year, making that used 09' with Sport Package worth about $27k-28k given a 1.5 year depreciation. $30k asking price makes sense, and there's likely $2k of margin in there. My buddy paid just over $30k for his base with Sport Package new one year ago this month ($2k off of sticker).

Unless I am misunderstanding what you are trying to say, I think you've mixed up your less than, <, and greater than, >, signs.
I agree, however, that you need to be prepared and plan on making an offer and walking out.

Whats vat?

If you mean the border ..then yes I am aware of the duty 6.1% and our taxes which I would be paying anyways on a car if I buy from a stealership.

the duty on 25K is really only 1525 ...still way ahead then a dealer...my .02
