What hit my car?
I'm sorry to hear that davidv
maybe the truck slid in snow and hit your car?
i would've measured the width of the tire track and the spacing between the tires to determine exactly what kind of car it was, then narrow down my search for the suspect (if there was a camera nearby)... other than that, i guess the only way is to either claim insurance or fix it yourself? :/

i want to say it's a semi... but as you can see, they only have 2 tires in the front instead of 4... so if it was a semi, the pattern of the skidmark would've totally been ruined..
to be honest if it was really a semi, the rear bumper would've suffered a far more severe damage...

I noticed there's two sets of tracks, one curving and another dualie-type going straight on. My guess, the straight-on tracks was kids who decided to push David's car out of the way with their giant pick-up, and then later they went drifting in it.
A dually of some sort backed up to your car and pushed it clearly... The car was pushed rather than slammed or hit. The resultant damage would seem to suggest that. The peices of the tails are immediately below where the car ended up not where it was initiated.
p.s. My condolences.

BTW the responding police officers investigation took about 60 seconds. All I got was a brochure with a report number on it. You guys and girls did a better job than the cops.
They did their due diligence which is showing up and filing a report. That is likely the extent of the investigation. As long as it's insured, Im sure she will be back to new before too long.
Good luck.

Doubtful it was a dually. There would be 3 tracks opposed to 2 (don't forget the front tire), plus the tracks lose their symmetry around the red circle which suggest a 4 wheel vehicle. I think the snow plow theory is unlikely due to the damage. Other points of interest:
- the tracks stay the course suggesting it was something very heavy that moved the 370 with no wheel hop on impact.
- the 370 is a low car and the damage is around mid-bumper which may exclude lifted trucks.
- from the pictures, it appears that you can identify slow speed tire tread. I doubt this vehicle was sliding out of control.
