I still hold my opinion.

The Zonda (which is the fastest production car around that track) has a 'flying start' as well. Also note where they stop the timer.

The article is full of ignorance.
The popular German car magazine from which most Nurburgring times are based, also conducts its tests in the Nurburgring the same way the GTR, which excludes the exit part of the pit stop for safety reasons.

EVO compared the GT-R against an Audi R8 on b-roads, a Z06 at the drag strip and a GT3 on a circuit...and the GT-R won every contest.
I personally would take a GT3 over a GT-R any day of the week, especially if the two are priced very close (assuming high GT-R markup). Hell, I'd take an Audi R8 over the GT-R, too.
I think the GT-R is going to be a fantastic car but I think it takes too much of the net result away from driver skill and instead rewards someone for simply mashing the pedal and being able to remotely steer the car with skill.
If it was truly $70k, well that's Exige S money or if you want less hardcore, likely Cayman S (without any frills) money.
