Nissan North America's chief of product public relations, Scott Vazin, told IL that the situation, "...has been blown way out of proportion." And according to Nissan, less than 1% of the vehicles – between 16 and 19 cars out of the 1,750-1,800 GT-Rs delivered to customers in the U.S. – have been affected.

F**king Nissan. Their continual denial that Launch Control exists is clear cut proof that they pulled a fast one on the media with regards to the car's acceleration times. I have to say though that it was a hell of a smoke and mirrors move on their part. Post ridonkulous 0-60 times for the first model year using a feature they deny exists, then remove it the following year once the original car's 3.4 second 0-60 time has been imprinted in the minds of the public. Almost as slick as releasing the car with an MSRP that undercuts that of the Z06 so the media prints articles about how the car runs circles around the Vette for less money, and then quickly jacking the price up some $7k and blaming it on a "rise in cost for raw materials." For a company that can't seem to give Infiniti a decent advertising budget, they sure know how to 'advertise" for their Nissan products by manipulating the media. Can't wait until the 370Z gets a $1kish price bump to put the base price a tick OVER $30k within the next month or so AFTER the magazines have already posted about the vehicle's sub $30k base price.

Nissan also threw up similar smoke and mirrors about how the new Z is more powerful, smaller and lighter. Which is "technically" true, but the order of magnitude by which these improvements have been made is negligible - with the exception of the handling quotient, which they raised commendably.
With the trashy way that Nissan has treated their GTR owners, and their lack of ability to put any serious power in the Z34, as well as them not being forthcoming about future improvements, I am seriously considering giving Nissan a big F U and buying a z06 as my next car.
They really need to have something else in their line-up between the $30-40k Z34 and the $100k plus GTR which went from smoke status to joke status with a few uses of launch control.
They almost had something. Had they respected the warranty on those 1% of the transmissions and not try to weasel out of replacing them, Porsche might have had somehting to worry about. But I am sure Porsche is snickering in a corner somewhere because the knew Nissan could not build such a car with those performance numbers for that price and they were right.
Nissan really blew that one...

I dont think the GTR is a joke, I honestly think they built a fantastic car. I mean lets be real guys, theirs a very small number of blown trannies according to the amount of cars delivered. Ill admit they shouldnt be breaking like they are, but I mean I really dont think the car was meant to be a straight line car.
Has anyone tracked their gtr regularly and had problems with it yet?? I have seen lots of owners, very happy with their car that track them and havent had an issue.
