This is how some people clean their GTR!
I could give a rat's *** where anyone washes their car. It's a $6 car wash, hence why I implied that at least the guy didn't go to the $5 wash...it was a ******* joke.
What's the big deal about $5 car washes?
I usually wait until the local car wash closes at night then bring a bucket down to one of the self wash bays and take my time using their high pressure hose + my bucket + my sponge.. no one is around to bug me.. the bays are lit and it only costs me $3 total
Sometimes I call all my friends down and we have a bigole $3 car wash party.. yeah we pretty ghetto!

^ There is no big deal about washing your own car a 5 dollar car wash. The big deal is letting a person who could care less about your car wash your car with a rag that he probably had been using to clean truck tires with all day.
repost from cleaning and detailing section, its hard to find places that will take care of your car and if you find one it will run you some change. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZjWkB_q2lE
If you don't have the means to wash your car at home, the next best thing is the coin-op wash. But as someone earlier said...never, NEVER use the foaming brush...just the power spray wand. Ignorant people use the foaming brush and are actually scratching their car while washing. But they are also the ones who could care less...another reason not to use the brush.
I bring my own wash mit and towels. I hose the car down with the soap setting, then give it a once over with the mit, then the rinse setting. I then drive away from the wash area (slowly) while the car is wet to a quiet spot and towel the car dry with a microfiber towel.
I do the wheels and windows at home.
I also use Klasse AOL and Sealant Glaze, plus keep my car covered when not in use so the need for washing is reduced to a minimum.
Car still looks like I just bought it.

Yes...I had the same impression when I pulled up to one in a parking lot. It's as big as a Mustang if not bigger. Kinda takes some of the nimbleness away when you see one.
Sorry to say but if I had the money for a GTR...I'd keep saving and get an Audi R8.

Mystery no more. I lurk (obviously). I joined back when the Z first came out to read up more on the Z and see people's thoughts on the new Z car. I didn't own one then and I don't own one now, so that's one of the reasons I don't post much. I visit other Nissan/Infiniti boards too, but more so to read than to post.
There are no $5 decent car washes. Period...
We stereotype that people who owns more expensive/luxury/sporty cars would pay more for there car wash but they definitely don't, and do the same thing like a lot of people out there do. Go through those trash drive-through car wash, or get it done for insanely cheap. I'd also say that 90% of the average consumer does not even notice swirls anyways unless its on a black/dark vehicle that shows it very obviously.

+1. I saw a lady bring in her awesome Black AMG C63 to the flagship carwash last weekend (on rockville pike). I nearly passed out. Im sure it exited the carwash with more swirls then it came in with (just the dirt was removed).
I own a 2009 Maserat Granturismo I just bought a couple weeks ago. I wash it where ever I want. According to my understanding, every time I traded my car, they never asked me where I washed my cars and they never ever gave me an extra $$ for hand washing it or babying it. In fact they have never even test driven my cars before the trade. They just look at it and drive it in their lot and make the deal........ So i see expensive car washes as a waste of $$$$
washing it "where ever you want" is ignorant(respectfully), but go ahead and ruin your car just because the dealership doesnt mind the swirl marks, forget about the pride you should take in your vehicle.
It's not ignorant. It's doing however much one cares to do for their vehicle. The only ignorant thing here is you wanting everyone to think like you. Face it...some people just don't care as much as others and there is nothing wrong with that.
