Forged Performance: JRZ Suspension Testing at Roebling Road
Well, due to the rain out last week, we had to do our preliminary setup at one of my least favorite tracks...Roebling Road. For many, this track is just plain uncomfortable and weird. It's basically several sweeping skid pad style turns linked to together by just one long back straight. It's a track that many, including myself, find very hard to get comfortable with. Attacking it is out of the question, as there are no firm easy apexes to spot, or visual clues. Oh, and just about every turn is off-camber...yeah!
Now lets talk about the good stuff. Roebling Road rewards patience, and smoothness. And if you can get a car to stick well at Roebling, it will be probably stick really well at just about any other track.
This was my first time using the Carbotech XP12 racing pads all around, and they performed perfectly. Terrific initial bite, and good release characteristics, and no fade. Of course, Roebling isn't a crazy braking track, but so far so good. The JRZ's felt very controlled with the 1000lb springs all around. We added 3 more clicks of high speed compression, and 2 more clicks of rebound, and the car seems to behave in a very predicatable manner for me. Absolutely laser precise turn in, ZERO understeer, and a very planted rear, that could still be rotating with a moderate to aggressive application of throttle. Trail braking and rotations towards the apex were also very easy to do. Pretty much the exact opposite of how the stock suspension felt.

And after a long day at the track, we headed over to Desposito's on the water, for some fresh crab, shrimp, and oysters. Here are the dead soldiers.
Let me know if you have any questions.

we might have to make it handle better than the GT-R, too... not that i'd be able to steer it around the track properly...with me driving, it might as well be a lifted SUV...*haha*

which model version of the JRZ are you testing? is it plated at all or one of their raw race models I see?
and very cool, they actually manufacture their own dampers. what about the springs? are you own your own supplying them?

I choose the 1000lb for my purposes.
Here are some pics from the installation.
