bargain sports car my ass (rear end)
except when the car breaks down, nissan will hit you with the old "voided warranty for not getting it in for regular maintenance" gag
people who tend to make these posts are often people who can't afford a GTR and see a 2k maintenance as ridiculous.
"Bargain sports car"? yes for its performance IT IS a bargain. But, its still 80+ thousand dollars. For the average JOE thats not a bargain, thats a 80 thousand dollar machine, and if you can afford that, 2k after 18,xxx miles is not much, cuz you probably won't drive your GTR more than 18k miles in the first two years.

+1 what spork said. its almost expected, granted most of it is very easy diy, but labor bites you in the ***.
btw does nissan have anything against the warranty of a gtr if you dont do scheduled maintenance?

In 2002, I graduated law school. My first car was a 2003 350z Track. I wasn't making "great" money yet, and when it came time to buy my first set of tires (f'ing tire wear) I remember I nearly chit the bed thinking maintenance alone was going to screw up my budget.
Fast forward to today, I still have my Z (which just hit 150,000 miles) and bought a GT-R last month. The maintenance costs (although admittedly high) were anticipated, and prior to dropping 80 grand on this car, I decided they were an "acceptable" cost should I in fact use the dealership.
So yeah, the car is unfortunately expensive, and costly to maintain, but the car is also a ton of fun, and most purchasers have researched this car (and alternatives in its class) sufficiently enough to be "ok" with these related costs.
Somethings are priceless, however they've been charging for "having fun" ever since "fun" was invented.

The GT-R is way beyond the Z's in terms of technology and parts. Between the AWD, twin-turbo motor, electronic suspension, etc., what do you honestly expect? More stuff means more stuff that can break which means more stuff to maintain.
And yes, those prices are expensive, but its a special car with special needs I guess you would say. The only car in history you could pay that kind of money for and have cheap maintenance is the NSX.
As for BMW's plan, I'm not sure the M family is covered and what those maintenance plans actually cover.

That is not too bad. e.g. an e46 m3 would run you 1 grand at inspection I at 30k miles. at 60k miles, another 2 grand for inspection II. The cycle started again at 90k miles, and so on.
on top of that, there are things you need to replace such as shock, bushing, brake, etc which are not cheap all.
Things that usually break in the M are subframe cracking - 1-1.5 grand to fix. SMG trans - depend, but could run up to 8 grand to replace the whole transmission. Engine vanos failure - 4-5 grand easily. alternator - 700 bucks, etc and the list goes on. lol
For the GTR performance, I'm not surprise at these maintenance cost.

"Automatic Transmission Fluid (GT-R specific) lists for $114.98 per quart. That's not a typo-- maybe an accounting error on Nissan's side, but not a typo. Forget Cristal we're going to start seeing hip-hop videos with rappers pouring this stuff on the ground while throwing dollars in the air."
Wow, you're seriously crying about a $2k maintenance? Get over it, it's a car. Don't be so afraid of it. Buy the stuff, grab a wrench, get under the car, and change the damn oil yourself! Besides, for the price of this car it's a steal! I've even seen one with 3k miles go for as low as $65k. This car is heaven on 4 wheels and out-performs most high end super cars; Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. Take the Corvette ZR1 (620HP) and Mustang Super Snake (720HP) for instance. A.) you're going to pay $100k easily for those cars. B.) The GTR would put them to shame on the nurburgring. C.) I guaran-damn-tee you that the maintenance on those cars are probably going to be the same, if not more, than the GTR. "2000 for the 18000 mile maintenance... And that's with the discount. THAT IS INSANE?? I guess it is a supercar with a supercar price tag in disguise? I guess the corvette is my future instead of the beloved gtr." That statement is INSANE!!!
