The GTR ran a 7:26, where the ZR-1 ran a 7:26.4. Th ZR-1 ran .4 seconds slower but with what, 140 more HP, the ZR-1 shouldv'e slayed the GTR. Plus i'd rather not pay an extra $30k for an american car lol

Agreed. GT-R is G R E A T, but not the greatest.

I'm not saying it's the greatest, but for the price...it's up at the top. If you also look at what i posted just a second ago, the GTR beat the ZR-1.

This thread is stupid but I shall throw in 2 cents. Why is it everytime someone makes a GTR thread "The Ring" has to be put into it.

Honestly, I think that maybe 99% of the people posting in this thread, could not match, or come close to what the times that were achieved. Also, wtf, that same 99% of you will never even drive on the ring. So all this talk about the GTR's ring times this and that really means nothing at all.

To be honest with you. The majority in this thread who actually own a GTR, might know of a guy who knows a guy who owns one of the 2000 ZR1's. And the only type of racing they will every do most likely is a roll on race. So since neither one will enter the ring to compete against each other and pay a ridiculous amount to rent the track out the ZR1 is faster hands down. And before anyone mentions HKS GT570 or anything. Please let's keep this stock on stock.

Lastly, if you really want to compare costs for the GTR and literally say they suck and it's too damn expensive. Well look here, you love how well it performs at the Ring. It competes with cars well over its HP figure of 500 or whatever it really makes. But don't understand why. Why why why is the maint on this car so expensive.

Well you idiots its obviously because the car uses some high quality **** so it can produce what it does. So take the brakes, tires, suspension, all into effect and imagine how much it really cost to manufacture them and realise your are getting a bargain. I bet this car was well into the millions in R&D and people are complaining about a damn service. Wait lmao. To the OP. You dumbass. So do you not realise that the E46 M3 had inspection intervals stated earlier, for the Inspection 1 costing $1200 and the Inspection 2 $1800? Is that too much for your little pockets too or are you just a bandwagon jumper trying to figure out which car you want to desire and can't afford. So with that being said imagine how much that M3 of yours which to me isn't what they used to be in terms of agility, elegance, and maturity levels, imagine how much that servicing will be when your car needs a tune up after 4 years. Tune ups don't just end after warranty they keep going.

Lastly BMW used that servicing technique to draw buyers to buy BMW's. Since so many people loved the 3 series but were afraid of the maint costs. Specifically the maint. costs because they are very stringent to maintain and require lots of focus. Alot more than the GTR. Do some research.

^^Well said sir. I throw in the "ring" just because it's a better comparison IMO, just because you can go really really fast in a straight line doesn't mean that you have the best car; and I do have a friend that owns a GTR and I have personally ran on the "ring". But i absolutely agree with what you said, very nicely put.

Agree to what NoWin is saying. How many people will actually enter the ring??? Also FYI a friend of a friend has a GTR with exhaust. So his tranny stopped shifting into 2nd gear. He took it to Nissan and they voided his warenty coz of his exhaust and they quoted him 28k to replace the tranny.....

Sad .... sad

my friend dave's testarossa (spelling) cost over 2 grand to have the timing belt changed on it. Plus the nearest dealership was 3 1/2 hours away in chicago.

If i owned a vette i sure as hell wouldn't take it to the dealership we have here. More than half the techs in the back are young kids that only know how to change parts and can barely do that without screwing something up.

nissan makes a 350z, which is an affordable sports car. Their GT-R is not advertised as an affordable sports car.

2000 for the 18000 mile maintenance... And that's with the discount. THAT IS INSANE?? I guess it is a supercar with a supercar price tag in disguise? I guess the corvette is my future instead of the beloved gtr.

How much does the maintenance of a porche or an audi rs4 cost???
15k service on a Lamborghini Superleggera is $2800.

mclaren f1 service is like $15k every 10k miles. now that expensive.

carrera gt service is like $25k. I recalled alexanderv (the guy with the straight pipe) said that in one of his vid.

all of a sudden, $2k is nothing

If we gonna complain about 2k in service bring it to jiffy lube. I have a friend who is a manager at one here on Long Island and he has a guy come in all the time with his Audi R8 and GTR to do the oil changes and stuff on his cars. He either cheap in that aspect or spent all his money on those cars and can't afford the dealer service hahaha..
