What do you guys hate most about the GTR?
If you get a nail in one tire nissan says you cant plug it and you just cant change 1 tire you have to change all four if this happens. around 2500 for all tires i heard. a guy at my dealer got charged 2700 for his tires adn they said a complimentary 4 wheel aligmnet. *** he only had around 5k miles
I'd have to say I hate the price and the fact that its technically an automatic. On top of all the maintenance fees your gonna pay and how much you are gonna have to pay for performance parts (19k for a Nismo exhaust), you would be better off either building a fully built Z or like the other guys were saying, getting a vette. At least you can get a vette in a stick. Affordable supercar my ***.
zo6? by just a tad? lol
A GTR vs Z06 IMO is a no brain comparison. GTR all day! GTR can be driven in rain sleet or snow. The Z06 not so much. That alone would say my decision livingon the eastcoast..
well thats funny that you said that...i was really close on getting a vette...but my neighbor owns one and he scrapped going in and out of my drive way...b/c where i live....there is a section of my driveway that connects to the sidewalk...like a apporan....and it wont clear and it would cost a lot to lower the level on the driveway entrance...so i thought the GTR would be a good 2nd choice and i think its a little bit higher...idk...b/c my nissan dosnt have any GTR's...so thats why im doin as much research as possible...and not only that...but the GTR is the same price tag and its got a back seat and is a "little more practical" unlike a Vette/Z06....

Black and silver cars seem to hold price but Red, White have some discount, The $3k optional silver looks cheap and no depth in paint and will not be offered in 2010 model...wonder why? CARMAX sells at MSRP as will most stealerships now, If I buy one I will not do business with stealerships that quoted me $20k over including the one I bought 2 350zs from. You vote with your dollar $

I assume Nissan wrote this because you don't want an Owner being so cost concious that he tries to save $500 and then drive 170 mph.
Ride quality can be brutal even compared to a sports car like a C6 Z06.
Rear leg room sucks.
If I had to buy a car in today's market I would strongly consider a C6 Z06. With GM in the crisis they are now you should be able to get a good price and good loan % rate. I would guess you can get a pretty good maintenance and servicing package from your Chevy dealer too.
Brakes I mentioned above, but hopefully there are much cheaper replacement parts in a couple of years.
Tires are big bucks and are not supposed to be rotated by dismounting and remounting so you don't even save money that way.
Replacement fluids are big bucks. Alternatives are starting to come out, but while cheaper than oem, they are not cheap either.
By the letter, yes you are supposed to replace more than just one tire, but there are owners who have not only just replaced one tire, but also plugged/patched them. Plug/patch was on the tread portion and not on the shoulder.

Fact is, that tracking any car is expensive! Not just the GT-R. If you just buy this car to drive daily like you would a Vette, the maintenance costs are probably about the same. It's not required to take your car to the dealer to get brakes changed or fluids changed. It is required however to use the GT-R transmission fluid to avoid any Warranty voids. Hell, even using a different brand on a 350z could potentially void your warranty as it could cause a transmission fail as well.
The vettes have a rubber piece that hangs real low and that's probably what scrapes, they were well aware it would hit that's why it flexes a lot. It's just rubber.
My choices would go in this order. GTR, M3, Vette.
The other two cars are noticieably different and people love them. The Z06 can easily be mistaken for regular C6. The other two just seem so bad ***...

No, this rule applied to most AWD cars. AWD cars have computers that are reading wheel speed constantly, and cars with irregular tread depths can cause the differential to wear out much faster. A differential on an AWD car is not cheap, you can ask this of any owner with a STI or EVO.

Time will tell if the market for replacement/maintenance GT-R parts will drop, but one thing I think for sure is it will not drop as low as replacement/maintenance parts for Vettes (C6 & Z06, not talking ZR-1) just because of the production numbers. It's pretty nutty how much is being asked for something simple like a cat-back exhaust pipe for a GT-R right now. As stated before hopefully the options for fluids expands further in the future and that the prices come down to reasonable levels, however right now it seems like anything GT-R comes with a premium.
Point taken about tracking any car, especially one as heavy as the GT-R.
OP I haven't measured the clearance on the lip of the GT-R and yes it's probably higher than the Z06, but don't think that it's high by any means. The clearance is lower than an '04 G coupe for sure (or maybe the overhang from the front wheels is longer, anyhow more scrapage with the GT-R).

plus gtr has launch systm theres two vids so search
