Nissan has given its GT-R supercar some upgrades for the 2013 model year, which includes engine and suspension refinements.

“The 2013 Nissan GT-R once again sends a bold statement that it remains on the leading edge of international sports car design, technology and performance,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc. “It’s our desire to keep pushing the envelope, to never settle for second best or second place – a philosophy that makes Nissan GT-R one of the most coveted and affordable supercars in the world today.”

The 2013 Nissan GT-R gets improvements to the engine that include improved intake efficiency, reduced airflow resistance including an enlarged air intake duct for the intercooler, and improved exhaust emissions efficiency and enhanced control. What do all the changes add up to? The 2013 GT-R now has 545 horsepower, up from 530 in the 2012 model. Torque has also increased to 463 lb-ft up from 448 lb-ft.

Nissan has also improved the shift feel and quietness of the transmission and added high performance differential oil that was originally used in GT-R motorsports competition. The suspension has been retuned and a dry carbon rear spoiler has also been added to the Nissan GT-R Black Edition model. A rear view camera is also now standard on the GT-R.

The upgrades to the 2013 Nissan GT-R now means that it can reach 0-60 mph in a very short 2.7 seconds. The 2013 Nissan GT-R will go on sale in January 2012.

2.7 seconds? Have they actually done a launch to test this out or is it just speculative measurements?

Regardless, anything close to 2.7 seconds is wicked fast.

not as much eyeball as the Lamborghini Aventador... but for 1/4 of the price and faster acceleration... i'd rather have four of these bad boys... GTR FTW!

Amazes me how often they upgrade this car. I wonder if the 2012 or even 2010 people get upset by this? It'd sure be nice to be rich.

0 - 60 I dunno man, the LC & tires could be the majority of that time improvement. HP-wise it's not that hard to meet or exceed the newer models, but I think the suspension, aero, heat dissipation, etc. are things that aren't as easily addressed.

Get upset, not really. It's good to see that cars are getting better.

Check out this video of them testing the new car at The Ring. The title translates to "Ensuring vehicle tire performance" according to Google Translate
