I think Sharif deserves another chance of course, I think after this the quality of work they provide may improve a little bit....... Especially when someone is giving you that much money to do multiple builds.

You've been living under a rock if you think Sharif deserves another chance. :icon14:

WOW!
This story was just put up on JALOPNIK.COM
OH BOY!
Jalopnik(if some of you have not checked it out)is super international.
Real or perceived, this deal about Forged, its big trouble.
Article quotes Forged saying the 250k situation was sort of a set up
from a "competing tuner"...hmm?

BornSlippyZ 05-13-2013 02:25 PM

Conspiracy in the tuning world?!

Still, why would that car leave the shop looking like that? Also what is up with all of the negative comments towards the 'victim' that spent $250K on that car (on Jalopnik's FB page). His money and he didn't get ROI, plain and simple. People get hung up on what the guy should've bought (or did with $250K) instead of the issue at hand.

LOL @ any fools who believe Sharif's line of BS that the car's owner "is being used 'as a pawn' in an orchestrated takedown by another competing tuning shop". Anyone who believes that stinking pile of crap is obviously ignorant of FP's prior history of shadiness and FAIL on the VQ before he transitioned his focus to ripping off GT-R customers.

As a local, i am disappointed and sad to see this crap happening. Makes me not want to trust anyone with my car at all.

Forged hacked up my Lotus Elise as well. This is a brief summary: I took the car in due to broken valve and needed an engine re-build. Forged managed to blow the motor on their dyno after the build, claimed no responsibility and charged me to re-build the second time. First, claiming that the supercharger must have needed to replaced because metal bits still in the charger came down again (All motor builder's I've talked to have told me this is the first thing to check when a motors goes and they should have known to check this) and later that the catalytic converter must have had bits of metal that were sucked backwards into the motor with back-pressure (huh? still don't get this). They finally returned the car and the transmission would not stay in 3rd gear. I checked the gear oil and the transmission was dry. I emailed Sharif and asked if they check the transmission fluid as a routine when doing a major engine build. He responded that since they didn't work on the tranny they had no reason to check it. Later when removing the tranny to re-build it (not at Forged) I discovered that to remove the engine in this car, it is necessary to pull the drive shafts. The drive shafts are mounted at the bottom of the tranny, so when you remove, all the gear oil pours out. Forged had to remove these to get the motor out. So they simply forgot to refill the tranny, broke the car in on the dyno with a dry transmission. Kelly, his shop manager, claimed pulling the drive shafts does not drain the gear oil. This was their last correspondence I have emails to prove this (all Lotus owner's know pulling the axles does indeed drain the gear oil). Discovered upon transmission rebuild: 7 striped bolts, both bolts on the front motor mount (mount was 1/8" from even touching block), two on bellhousing, One starter bolt was missing but when reinstalled it was striped, one in the valve cover. Why was the valve cover bolt found you ask? Because a spark plug was ejected from the car and blew through the deck lid. Ceramic seperated from the threading and ground strap. NGK confirmed this would happen if guess what? The spark plug was over-tightened... Forged refused to give me his insurance carrier information and has not returned phone calls.

Once Sharif/Forged Performance got exposed on the Z/G platform, he got quiet here on this forum and moved on to the deeper pockets of the GT-R community. Now that he's been exposed for the same shenanigans on the GT-R platform, the question is which other platform will this crook move on to?

Seems to be the trend with most shady performance shops, fail on one platform and move to a new crowd/platform and do it all again.. I can think of a few other former Z "specialists" that up and moved to the GTR scene ha.

It's definitely a chitty cycle.

As per the recent replies, I retract my second chance statement. Have only been a part of the community for a couple years and never read much negative about Forged in that time, but god damn. Someone needs to open a shop specifically dedicated to fixing FPs mistakes... Could make a killing and looks like business would be plenty...

Based off of the article on jalopnik and Sharif's animosity towards Top Speed Motorsports, it sounds like they may be getting some of that business and are fixing some of FP's hack jobs.

IMO Its ok to be racist when it comes to car shops, it may save you allot of money in the long run.

How many Muslim/Hindu owned shops have you possibly been to.. One? Nice generalization though

Lmfao wow....

Bro are you serious?

More "bad" shops are owned by "white" people than minorities....

Youre a freak bro.... And quite immature and close minded at that!

Uhhh, you're an ass.

But anyway, Sharif is really upset with TSM because they're a better shop and took all FP's good employees. Remember Ryan Doi, he was FP's rockstar manager, he's now at TSM.

I think this whole fiasco is going to be FP's deathblow. Especially with the way Sharif is handling things.

Yeah keep the racist crap outta here as that will just shutdown the thread! .

Interesting news about employees jumping ship. That would make sense as far as the shop war goes...

This is the same tactic that Hennessey Performance used. After they ****ed a bunch of Viper guys, they moved on to other platforms. No one seems to remember that anymore with all the press they get. Don't be surprised when Forged jumps platforms again or shifts the majority of his GTR business overseas.

GTFO with that racist crap.:icon22: Race and/or religion has nothing to do with this. Aside from Sam at GTM and Sharif at Forged Performance, history on this platform has proven that most of the shady shop owners and vendors (VRT, RA, SGP, PF, Z1 Auto, CiNcity, Strafe, etc.) were not Muslim or Hindu.

03stampededak 05-14-2013 11:57 AM

Z1 mentioned in this group?

Z1 is shady? I haven't heard that. Can you elaborate?

Z1 Auto in NY. Not Z1 Motorsports in GA.

I'm hindu, don't understand why a hindu owned shop would go out of business ? Anyway...

As an aside, just to reiterate what rude said in case slow people miss it, z1 auto is NOT z1 motorsports. John and the crew at Z1 motorsports are amazing, i've always admired their commitment to the Z community whether it be 300s, 350s, 370s, they treat everyone the same regardless of what you drive.

Actually reminds of Sharif's old staff, they were some pretty talented dudes working for forged at one point, don't know anything about the new guys working there, not sure anyone does... but based on what we are seeing i can't help but wonder on how competent or capable they really are.

03BrickyardZ 05-14-2013 12:52 PM

Sharif has made the front page of Jalopnik two days in a row. That's bad mojo.
