dgt3, do this cam has rca and can be connected to any rca video input like DVD HU have, or needs something else?
Yeah, I know it's kinda pricey but hopefully these units are built with high quality and will last. It does have a RCA output from a little box so you can easily connect it to any RCA inputs. Since you are in Eurupe (Bonjour!), you may want to look into the Alpine newest reverse camera, which at least AFAIK is available in the UK. It is similar in size, RCA output, and has a wider camera angle.

Yeah, but it is too large to fit in the space in the area which I fitted the panny unit.

I tapped the reverse lamp wire near a wiring harness behind the driver seat below the small triangular shaped rear window. Check this thread in which Paul350z (thanks BTW) took a good photo of the wire:

Sorry for the delay (felt sick all day )...here are the close-up pix and more detailed instructions. I will try to explain how I mounted the camera. It is somewhat difficult to explain so hopefully you will understand. I numbered the pix so you can follow the DIY below.

1. I took out the right license lamp, heat it up in the oven, and took it apart. I then slightly dremeled the upper casing and reglued the lamp 180 degrees turned around. I remounted the lamp housing to the car also 180 degrees turned around. This will provide more space between the hatch unlocking button and the license lamp for the camera.

2. I mounted a home made "L" bracket on the outer side of the camera with double sided tape. I then used the supplied bolt to mount the camera to the "L" bracket.

3. I drilled a hole the side of the hatch unlock button housing and then mounted the inner side of the camera with a bolt going through the hole. I added some velco just to be safe. This will require you to remove the hatch unlock button housing which is only accessible after you take off the rear bumper. The housing is mounted with 4screws if I remember correctly. This will also make the camera harder to steal and provide an added security measure.

Hope these pix and instructions help! Let me know if you guys have any ?s.

I have a friend who has a friend who lives in Japan. I'm trying to sorting out a good price for the Alpine. I have to wait for an answer and then make a choice. There's 100$ between the Alpine and the Panasonic one...

hey mate, I just got the HCE-C100. Before I begin the install, can you give me some directions on where to pass the cables from the bumper to the screen and where to fit the camera electric unit ? Thanks! ;-)

Sure thing, you will need to remove the rear bumper. I wired the camera wires through the area next to the license plate lights then cut a small hole in the center rubber grommet. Then remove the interior panel to get the wires through the hole in the grommet into the interior of trunk area. Then I ran the wires on the side of the spare tires to the existing holes on top of the cubby area. I put my video box in the passenger side cubby and tapped the reverse lamp wire behind the driver side seat belt area. I ran the power wires and the video cable via the center console area to the front. Hope this helps you.
