I got my 05 350zr in early November, I only have 300 mi. on it.

now I got it up for the winter. I been starting it up about every two weeks to keep it well lubricated since I have so little miles on it. I let it run for about 30 minutes.

Do you guy's think this is efficient enough?

 

If there's no snow outside take it for a ride! Just wear a lot of jackets. LOL

 

I wish could take it for ride! But there is about 1' of snow out there,& up here they salt the Road's

 

It is pretty cold here too, although i'm sure not as cold as where you are. I still try and drive mine as long as there is no snow or ice on the ground. Took it out this weekend when it was in the 20's. I just make sure to let it warm up.

I usually drive my parents F250 turbo diesel and I have a hard time getting that thing started at 5 in the morning. Finally decided to buy an engine block heater which I will try out tonight.

I didn't think idling was all that great to do. Especially for 30 minutes but i'm no expert.

 

I would not idle a new engine for 1/2 hour every 2 weeks for 4 months, too much run time in one RPM. You want to run a new engine in different RPM ranges as much as possible during the break-in period.

If you want to run a broken-in engine every once awhile, just run it till it reaches normal operating temperature to get rid of the moisture in the exhaust system. It should take less than 1/2 hour, may be 10 minutes?

My ZR is covered up in the garage like yours. I choose not to start the car at all during the 3-4 months winter because most of the engine wear is created during startup. The oil was changed before the storage and a trickle charger is connected to the battery to keep it fully charged.
