Default Quickest way to tell the difference between 2004 and 2005 ZR

Stupid question, whats the quickest way via the interior and/or exterior to tell the difference between a 2004 and 2005 ZR? Also does anyone know the itemized list of changes between the two? I think I had found a place via google that listed them but I can't find it now.

Thanks!

I believe the quickest way is to see if it has tire pressure sensors (TPMS). None of the 04 ZRs came with them.

From http://www.nissannews.com/nissan/200...er/index.shtml:

"All 350Z Roadster models receive a number of other enhancements for the new model year, including standard Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS), driver’s seat front and rear lifter (except for net seat design), reduced clutch pedal effort for manual transmission models and downshift rev matching for automatic transmission models, heated outside mirrors and a faster navigation system processor for improved route calculation times (for optional navigation system, Touring model only)."

I believe the driver's seat lifters were added in 04.5 (Touring only?) and the heated mirrors came standard on 04 Touring models.

I just found the same thing and was about to post it. Thanks for responding! The quickest way to test the TPMS is to make sure it shows up in the electronic display right? If you are interested I ask because I am paraniod about a dealer sneaking in an 04 or 04.5 model on me .

Nissan North America, Inc., today announced 2005 model year pricing for its award-winning 350Z sports car, which is available in a total of seven Coupe and four Roadster models. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) changes little for 2005, ranging from no increase to a maximum of $60, despite the addition of a number of standard features including Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS), driver’s seat front and rear lifter and heated outside mirrors. The 350Z’s 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode now features downshift rev matching.

Yeah, I figured that's why you asked. And you are correct; check the display. You can also check the build date on the driver's doorjamb, though I don't know when they started building 05's.

you don't have to worry about that... when you sign the contract for the car it will have the model year and mileage... make sure thats 100% correct. Some used car dealerships have 3 day 300 mile return policies (not many) and they will sometimes try to shave miles off the car on the paperwork you sign. If they put the wrong model year you will quickly find out when you set up your insurance via the VIN number and then you just need to call a lawyer to get your money back b/c of the invalid contract. I couldn't imagine a dealership taking that kind of a risk.

If your talking about a new car dealer doing this... if you find a dealer with an 04 you may be able to tell them like $1000 under invoice and he may want to move it that bad... just make sure you still get a fair deal on your trade in.

I have an 04 ZR touring and have the TPS.

The best way is the contract, they can't lie to you.

Haha thanks guys. I have my new roadster its an 05 I checked the VIN to be safe. I knew the contracts would say the year but I have had a dealer way in the past deal with me the whole time acting like it was a year older than it was and when it came time he said "Oh you thought it was a 2000? Its a 99...I thought you knew that!" where the whole time I asked him and played as if it was a brand new model. Anyway the dealer I worked for was very respectable for the most part. The finance guy played games but I took care of him, oh and they tried to hold back on the trade in but I got them up 2gs from the starting offer.

Thanks Again!

05's have bigger mirrors which are heated, bigger toggle switch for the NAV and TPS standard on the Enthusiast Model as well as the Touring. Also the NAV compartment door is auto and extends all the way in. I know the 04's are auto but I thought they only went in half way or something. Also the NAV has a faster processor than the 03/04's.

You cannot tell by looking at them unless it was an Enthusiast. Since 04 Enthusiast's don't have TPS.

Not many changes though.

I don't know if the Z is the same, but the Murano with TPS has chrome valve stem caps instead of black.
