Default Z Plates

Have made a few trips to the MVA lately...
Each Time I had a list of tag names 12-20 long.
Each time I would then learn all my choices were taken.

Must be a heck of a lot of Z's somewhere in Maryland because everything I tried someone already had it. The wife and I must of thought of 60+ tags with a Z in them, then we came up with some ones (frustration sets in) that did not have a Z. No matter, some clever rascal before us already has them all. Jeeezzzzz

Some of my MANY ATTEMPTS were:
EZRIDER (or ZRIDER)
SNAZZY (OR SNAZZZ)
ZSCAPE (actually had this on my 04 ZR)
FANTAZY
RUNAWAY
etc. etc. etc.

Amazingly SEXZ had just been turned in (Spouse said no, rats...)

I also thought of KAMIKAZ (which I did not try) which I thought was Slightly Clever if not very PC, however the wife shot holes in that as well (sensible spouses are like that).

So I called the MD MVA hotline two days ago and asked a very simple question, was "Z" taken? Can one get just one letter? Of course it had to be taken, with all the Z cars out there over 35 years, somebody had to have registered this tag already... but no, they said it's available and has never been registered! Went to MVA yesterday (almost an hour away) and registered the vanity tag 'Z'. Now I wait 8+ weeks for my convict to make it for my new 05 SB ZR.

Maybe I am being too simple minded now after trying 60+ tag name ideas over four trips to the MVA, BUT I think a MD Chesapeake Bay Decorative Plate with just a black Z smack in the center is going to be pretty cool! Just Z Says it Best!

Okay, I'll admit I'm jealous. Who would have thought that something as simple as Z would be available. I wish I'd thought of that. Congratulations!

Thanks M, I also thought it was interesting to learn it was available (apparently no one else here seems to think so though). I Had turned in my previous personal plates with my 04 ZR as my Wife was not with me when I bought the 05 in February and she needed to be present (on the new title) to arrange a plates transfer to the 05. Was simply far less trouble to just pay for and get new personal tags (since 05 is in my name only) then to arrange for her to get up there within 72 hours to sign purchase papers (she stays quite busy - Calvert Hospital).

Although at the time of the 05 Z buy, did not know it would be such a PIA to come up with a tag name (with a Z in it) that no one else already had. As said in prior post I tried a whole bunch of ideas (55 more then I mentioned), and lucked out with my Z Plate! At least it should be here before real summer arrives, so I can be sportin it for summer runs.

That is incredible... You got the ultimate tag. Here in New Zealand the plate "Z" is for sale second hand for $250,000.

this might be a stupid question, but can't you have the same plate in a different state?

Yes you can.
You would just need to see if it is available for Your state.

Hey M, I talked to another MD MVA rep again today...
Learned that they changed their vanity tag rules awhile back.
Now you can get one letter like my Z plates (have not made yet).
But you cannot get two letters (due to states abbrev perhaps...).
You are allowed to get 3 letters/numbers or more (up to 7 of course).

Just got a call from the MVA saying my Z plates application is rejected. They now Claim someone 3 days before me put the same request in for a Z plate. So now they are refunding my money (by check about 4 weeks from now...). Pissed, since 3 different MVA reps kept saying it was available (one just confirmed it yesterday!) and I was just waiting for it to be made...

Now I have to go through their selection BS all over again...
and then I wait another two months to see if I Really get it...

I was at the MVA on tuesday and they said that Rated Z was already taken and others so, I just went with my initials. Plus, I don't want someone to mess with the car if you get plates that is sarcastic. ALZR

Colorado has a minimum of two letters. My wife and I racked our brain trying to find the perfect custom plate for our new SB 350ZR and finally came up with one that was both available - and fits us. We both are serious NL hold'em tournament players and just got ours filed - THENUTZ. If you aren't a poker player you probably won't get it...

Colorado has some up in the mountains (Black Hawk) but most of the tourneys aren't worth playing due the the fast structure. There are some great card playing "clubs" in Denver area that hold 60-100+ people tourneys almost every weekend. Fun stuff...

That is a good one too...

luckily i live in the poker mecca of the world (LA) with about 8-different card rooms within a 25-mile radius of one another, each with about 25-30 tables and others with more. There has got to be a few tournaments going any given day.

Usually I play the tournaments for fun and the cash games for profit. I tend to only play single buy or 1-rebuy only tourneys as I do not like a fast structure either.

Just thought of a couple more...
