Convertable top question
When the top closes, the front of the top, where the latch is, comes down with a bit of a bang onto the top of the windshield, nothing severe and itÃÔ probably normal. Just wondering if others do the same thing.
Thanks
Thanks

This prevents the "banging".

I take my finger off the button right before the top closes. I then open the latch and hold it while pressing the "top close" button.
That's the way I do it. My 911 closes the same way, with a bang.

I sometimes catch mine, too. On another strange note, after putting the top up this afternoon, I went to roll up the driver window and it would go up, then come back down half way, as if it were hitting something and thought there was an obstruction, but I couldn't find anything out of whack. I did that a few times, even re-opened the latch and closed it again. Same thing. Then, I just opened the door and rolled the window up with the door open, then just shut the door, and there was no problem. Anybody have THAT happen?

The Z top is so superior to my last rag top...a 1996 BMW 328. It is extremely fast and I love the glass window. I guess the "harsh landing" is the price you pay for speed.

No Bang here
The top on my car does not bang shut, I usually open the latch before it gets close to the closed point and hold the button untill it is all the way closed

Has anyone had to replace (repair) the convertible top latch?
Mine won't engage the clips properly, so I need to do it with pliers. The part comes with all the rods etc. and costs over $1000 - yikes!
