Default Z Top Styling...

I get a kick out of these Z Hardtop guys who think the ZR looks ugly with the top up. I think it is gorgeous:
1) The semi-oval rear window looks like a mean 1930's hot-rod coupe
2) It shows off that straight design line which runs from the headlights to the taillights.
3) I like the ragtop tradition so much better than those new hardtop convertibles
4) Finally, with the top down everyone is speechless

I don't think the ZR looks ugly but the reason why I fell in love with the Z to begin with was that sleek roof of the car.

The roof curves back and flows so nicely it gives the car it's original sportscar profile.

The roadster sort of takes that away but it plays off the original coupe so everyone can appreciate it.
but you're right: Nothing beats a drop top on a sunny day.

I have to agree. I especially love the contrast when the top is a different color from the body. I thought it was awesome when I had the LS roadster (the black and LS were great complements to one another), and now that I have PPW, the blue top just blows me away (it looks great on the CS, too). Heck, I drive it with the top up sometimes just to show it off.

I think the ZR is like Clark Kent with its top up and Superman with its top down.

I know what you mean about the "30's hot-rod" look. This is especially true with the top up when viewed from the rear quarter panel angle. I still think it looks a little dumpy from the side/front quarter. The rear needs to be just slightly more raked. Let's be real, however. We buy a roadster for TOP DOWN driving, and with the top down, this car is a drop-dead gorgeous stunner.
