That's my point. If you do anything that'll void warranty, that's YOUR decision. I wouldn't mind voiding my warranty to have this feature because I know I'm not stupid enough to put my top down at 50mph.

Suppose that after the hack job you have to do onto the electrical system in order to bypass the sensors something goes wrong. Are you going to take the car back to the dealership demanding warranty work to be performed? And when they rightly laugh at you and kindly tell you to go suck an egg, whattya gonna do?

It depends at how you look at it. If you do a hack job then good luck at the dealer. If you do a good quality (reversible) job, then I don't see the problem.

Just an s2k driver's viewpoint... in my car theres a simple wire to cut that enables you to do this and it is VERY convenient for traffic. A good amount of people on s2ki have done this. I really dont understand why you are all so against it.

you can open and close the top while moving without any mods. However, you must first be at a complete stop, start the opening process, then ride the brake for the rest of the open/close operation.

-but you can be moving.

I guess if your going down hill in neutral riding the brake that would work. Owner's manual says it needs to be in either neutral or park with the brake on to open top.

BS...it can be in drive, reverse...etc...My dealer said the parking brake had to be on too. Obviously it doesn't. As long as your foot is on the brake and you're not moving when you start it will work.

I think it's also hooked up to the speed sensor?

True...as long as you start the operation while the vehicle is not moving and keep your foot on the brake the whole time it will work. It's kind of harder to do that than it is to just pull over IMO. LOL

Do we have any electrical diagrams for the roadsters?

I want to do it like the Vanilla Ice rolling in my 5.0 video.

Sounds good, PM me.

I took a quick look at the diagrams. I'm no electrician but the brake sensor looks easy to by-pass. The condition for the top to open is 0 Volts on that wire, so I believe its a matter of just disconnecting it. The opposite condition is when the brake pedal is pressed and that wire receives 12 V which tells the unit not to open the top.

The wire for the speed sensor is another story. The speed sensor wire receives electrical impluses which translate into the speed of the car. By disconnecting that wire, the computer may either think the car is stopped (which would be good), or it may interpret no signal as an error.

Regardless it looks pretty easy to undo in case there is a warranty issue.

I agree w/ ZBoater. Also, I just don't get it; what's the point? So you had to hold up traffic for A WHOLE 10 SECONDS?? BFD--they probably enjoyed the show.
Some cars, e.g. Alfa Spyders & Fiat 124s (maybe others) have manual drop tops. I've owned both and tried dropping the top while moving +/- 20mph. Damn near dislocated my shoulder. For those w/ motors and lockouts, it seems there must be a good reason. Even Ford figured this out on the Mustang convertibles--my wife's '97 Mustang GT won't drop the top w/o the emergency brake engaged. If both America AND Japan agree on something, I'd go w/ it and forget about the very minor inconvenience of stopping to raise the top.
