Motor Trend Mustang vs 350Z Roadster
Motor Trend June Shootout
Ford GT vs Ferrari F430
Corvette vs Maserati Ragtops
Mustang vs 350Z Roadster
They favored the Mustang on looks and value, but opined that the Z was the better sports car.
Oh and the pushrod Corvette won, again, against the DOHC Maserati.

Outside of speed, there is no comparision between the two.
The Mustang is a sport coupe.

no doubt.....I laughed when I saw that one......I might even put a poll on another car forum (EVOM or something) just to see what some unbiased car people think who don't own either car. I'm pretty confident the Mustang gets smashed even on a Chevy or SRT forum too.

The only advantage that the mustang has (right now) is that its still pretty new. There are already just about as many new mustangs as Z's around here and in a year there will be a ton more.
I really love the new mustang (owned a '95 mustang for 9 years), but it doesn't really compare to the Z. Also, Mustangs handle like ****.
I constantly get compliments on my car these days. You'd really think it was a $45k or more car from what people say about it.

Better looking? Thats like vanilla and chocolate, different people, different taste. If you like the retro look, the Mustang might look cool, the lines on the Z are definetly more modern. You get a bunch of "muscle car" people together and of course, a majority would like the beffy angular lines vs the Z lines... stupid to use "taste" as one of the factors.
I think it is stupid they compared these two cars in the first place. Definetly NOT the same category. Might as well compare an Audi TT to that new Cadillac sport machine...

I actually agree with their decision for the vette/maserati comparo. I know it's just my opinion, but the maserati doesn't do anything for me. I don't think it's that good looking, it's doesn't perform better than the vette, and it costs an arm and a leg. As for the 350z/mustang comparo, they were looking for which one is the better icon, which is really dumb. Let's see, get a bunch of americans together to decide which is the better icon... it's like a british car mag doing a comparo to find which is the better icon between a mini and a 350z.
Don't get all riled up people, we're all entitled to our opinions, just like the 5-10 guys writing that are entitled to their's.

F430 beat the GT.
I think the Vette beat the Maserati as a good "cruiser" which is correct imo.
And the Mustang beat the Z as a cruiser, which again, is right, if you want to cruise, wrong car.

Motor Trend prostitutes itself, wouldn't trust a word they say. It used to be that every car dealership would keep the particular copy they paid for showing their car as "Car of the Year". Any make/model that has the money can be "Car of the Year".

Ford GT did 0-100 in roughly 13.2 secs and finished the 1/4 mile in 13.9@102 (I can't remember the trap speed).
350Z roadster did 0-100 in 15.3 secs and finished the 1/4 mile in 14.2@98.
I'm thinking that the the break down in speed in secs were not corrected, while the 1/4 mile times were corrected.
