my new 350ZR delivered damaged
Just got a brand new DB 350ZR touring last week, and Im loving it!!! However I noticed scratches on both rear fenders and the trunk and a deep scratch on the front rim. There are also paint drips on 3 rims. It was deliviered in this condition but I didnt notice it until a few days later. The paint scratches arent significant, but Im very observant and notice every small mark (just didnt when I recieved the car because I was so excited). I would really like the rims to be fixed or replaced because thats pretty noticeable.
Im leasing the car but didnt sign the deal yet, because the dealership didnt get the certificate of ownership when the car was delivered.
Im not sure how much of a fight I should put up to get this stuff fixed. If they have to repaint the trunk, Im worried the paint wont perfectly match the rest of the car. The good thing is that I can refuse to accept the car if I really want these scratches fixed, just dont know if I should go that far.

+1 - How many miles were on the car? It sounds like something happened to it and they had to repair the car. You may be getting a lot more than you bargained for.
I do understand the excitement, I really had to force myself to be critical when I picked the car up.

Yup, make them fix it. You haven't signed over the car, the car shouldn't be damaged, it's their responsibility to fix these things.
There are plenty of ZR around now, you shouldn't feel like you must buy this one.

They should not hassel you over these problems. If they are half way reputable they will take care of these issues without a problem. In my business we deal with 300 dealers in central jersey and eastern Pa. I see stuff like this all of the time. A car is picked up either at night or whenever and stuff like this is missed by the customer. The dealers always make good on it. If the dealer is really on the case his prep people or the salesperson should have spotted this stuff and corrected it before delivery. Or at the least, they should have pointed it out to you at delivery with the promise they will correct these thing at your convenience. The other day a dealer called me because a customer refused delivery on her '05 Sentra because it had a nearly invisible mark on the driver door panel where you pull the handle to open the door on the inside. This thing was barely visible, but she did not believe the dealer would repair it after delivery. I repaired it while she waited. This woman was really ****. She went over this car literally with a magnifying glass. She pointed out other stuff to me. It seems she trusted me more than the dealer. I explained to her it is a mass produced vehicle and it is going to have some stuff on it. I assured her, her Sentra had less stuff wrong with it than I have seen on Lexus' and Mercedes' at delivery. Seemed to satisfy her. So, what I am saying is that you should not hesitate in the least calling these things to your salespersons attention. If you have not yet done so, give them a call and let them know what you have found. This way they can have a plan for you when you show up with the car. This should not become an adverserial situation. Good luck. By the way, did you buy this at Flemington Nissan by any chance.

Exactly. When I picked up my '05 it was at night, and the salesman told us that if we got it home and found any flaws in the daylight the next day to give him a call and he would take care of it. We didn't find any, but it was nice to know that they would have taken care of it.

Figure out what will make you happy! If getting another a car will do it, go in and tell them you want another car or go somewhere else. Not every car is perfect, I should know. My S2000 had marks on it on delivery, I had two dashboards replaced because I was excited and didn't inspect the car before driving off. Same thing happened with my Qx4, there were 3 paint scratches which they fixed and then there were interior blemishes in the vinyl/ plastic pieces--4 areas which were white. I picked both cars up at night. To my satisfaction they fixed them, but next time I will spend some 20 minutes in daylight. Remember, it is your money, whether you may feel **** or not, you are the one that has to pay for it either way. If it was me, get another car. Tell them you don't like because of the "damage" and you want another car color. If they try to get you to keep it, get them to fix it and give a bumper to bumper extended warranty!
Wow, thanks for all the replies!
I talked to my dealer and he said they will fix anything I want fixed, no problem. Im going to the dealership today after work to show him the scratches. Not going to sign the paperwork unless everything is fixed correctly.
I guess I need to decide if its worth a repaint, Im a little nervous to "mess with the original paint" as Jim 350Z Boston mentioned.
The funny thing is Ive been driving it around since last tuesday and already put 500 miles on it

Signal 9,
If the scratches are not through the paint to the metal they can be removed without painting. We use a system called Sprayless Scratch Removal. It is amazing. It will remove the scratches 100% without painting. The key is, is the scratch deep enough that you can catch your fingernail in it? If it is, to do it right it will need to be painted. If not, this system and I am sure there are some others out there I have not seen, will remove the scratches 100%. Also, there are companies out there that can repair the gouged wheels. In this case some repair systems are better and more permanent than others. A company called Alloy Wheel Repair does a great job with a permanent fix. They are the only guys I know who service the dealers and remove the tire from the rim in order to repair the rim. Others do it on the car, and usually they are not as good nor are their repairs typically permanent.

Went to the dealer yesterday and had the scratches removed. They used the process that mwest300zx described, and did an awesome job. Wasnt able to fix the scratch on the rim, but its barely noticeable. I even have a hard time finding it and I know where it is.
Im glad that no painting was necessary because then I wont be able to wax it for a while.
Demanding a new car or walking away wasnt an option, because I got a great deal on the car.

Glad to hear it all worked out. By the way are you aware of the Z show/meet in York this weekend. It's at the Holidome in York. You can check out whiterose z club, ecza.org for details.

Not sure how the wheel got scratched, but it had to be with some type of tool. Its deep and in a very odd location on the side of a spoke. I attached a pic.
You can also see the blue dot in the pic. The technician said they couldnt remove the blue dot because its there for a purpose (wheel balancing or something, he wasnt completely sure). He didnt want to razor blade it off because that may cause more damage.
I think I will just live with the wheel scratches and blue dots, saturday Im going to sign the lease deal. They were telling me on Wednesday that if they had to send something out to be repaired then I will have to pay for the repair, because they had already inspected the car before giving it to me. Anything they can do in house would be free of charge. I guess it couldnt hurt to ask about that "wheel works" place.
