Man, we need to post more in here! It's getting boring.
Anyways, let's get a discussion going. What do you guys think about the interior of the top? I've been in a few other convertibles and they are usually well padded so as to not show the metal frame. Our metal frame just shows in plain sight.
Would you guys preferred if it was padded up? Or does the nakedness make the car feel more "raw" and "sporty"?

I don't really care. Most other auto makers claim all that "padding" is for sound deadening and stuff. And those are luxury cars. This is a sports car and I actually like the way it's bare metal. It's more "I'm a sports car!" LOL
Besides, the zr is extremely quiet for a convertible so it obviously doesn't need all that extra padding that would just make the top take up more of our trunk.

Any sort of liner you might place in there is just another thing to get pressed when you put the top down. As it is, it appears to be a pretty tight fit. Add another layer in there, and you might not get your top down when you want without having the tonneau cover open a bit.
On a side note though, I don't mind the top as is. The only time I have it up is when it is raining. Being in San Diego, I have the top down just about every time I drive it, only using the top to keep the bird poop off the interior.

i really didnt pay too much attention to the barz under the top.. just when i lube the hinges on occasion.. since i drive the z with the top down most of the time, it really dont bother me at all...
It's never bothered me either.. Guess I like that top down too much too..

Actually, I like the exposed parts. I like to be able to see the mechanical aspect of the top. Plus, I agree that if they had padded it, would have been a much tighter fit. I'm perfectly fine w/o the liner. Lord knows that if they had lined it, there would be problems with that. I'm glad they put the $$$ into the performance of the car and not the luxuries..

How about I try new topic. Purchased a used 350Z, 2004 Enthusiast Roadster. This is one heck of a car, with a number of NISMO adds (what is NISMO by the way, just became an instant 350Z enthusiast yesterday...). Love the power and beefiness of this car! Only problem is that there is a small (1/2 centimeter) split in the top near one of the support struts. Not a big deal, but will be come a failure point at some stage if I don't fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this or where to turn to get it fixed? Doesn't seem like it would be hard, but want to do it the right way.
By the way, living in the Chicago area, this thing is gonna have to learn to love salt - Will be washing frequently.......
