Default Convertible top leakage?

I apologize if this is a repeat.

I'm in an active debate about the pros and cons of the convertible Z over the coupe with my wife. She believes that all convertibles tend to leak and that’s a reason not to get the convertible over the coupe. I live in Portland, OR so moisture is an obvious concern over the winter and spring months. Anyone with the convertible had issues with leakage?

Thanks in advance.

No problems whatsover with mine leaking & I've had it since 2004. That's daily driving also, so it's exposed frequently.

If the rain in Oregon drops north of horizontal, and really hard, you might have a problem, but otherwise, not a drop. It's all about keeping the seals in good condition.

No leaks here, even during the southern AZ monsoons and the wettest winter in memory. +1 on clean, well maintained seals; lots of good products available, and an easy task.

Thanks guys. Another question, having the cloth top do you worry about your Z getting broken into more? A coupe is a bit more secure than a convertible for sure.

Thoughts?

Southern California here. We just had the rainiest season since the 1880's. No leaks in my Roadster. If someone wants to break into your car, they will do it. Does not matter if you have a hardtop or convertible. These guys have intent and talent!

Doesn't matter; if they want it they're going to take it ... probably on a flatbed, so doesn't really matter if you have a hard top or not. Most of the time, people smash the window before cutting up the tops anyways as a window is significantly cheaper to replace.

First question:No leaks yet, but another z owner(2004) had small pin holes in his and Nissan replaced the roof and frame promptly at no cost. Question 2: Buy Lojack w/the early warning system also Masterlock club with the double hooks works well in this area to keep the joy riders out. Like jdg345 said if a pro wants it he will probably get it, the top doesn't matter.

If a pro wants your car, even your home garage with pit bulls walking around it won't stop them, they will always find a way. Get a good alarm and some sort of tracking system, and be careful where you park. The only other thing you could do is hire armed security to guard it, but really, if you have everything else covered, let destiny takes it's course.

The first early ZR productions had problems with the top & leveling of the tonneau cover (shim problems). Since then, the top has been changed to a double stitch design & the padding around the support bars are different.
