Default Which would you prefer? 04'350Z Roadster or 05' Mercedes 320E

I currently own a PPW 350Z Roadster.

I have a chance to get 2005 Mercedes 320E at a great price (9K miles) from a friend. That means I would have to get rid of the 350Z Roaster.

My payment would be the same if not it might be little lower w/ Mercedes.

I know they are different car but I just wanted to get your opinion.

What's so great about a 320E? If I wanted something built in the USA I would get a Chrysler.

Default hmm

different cars,very.....

I own a 05 CLK 320 which is a coupe so in the same category as my Z,but you know what, unless you go with an AMG series by Mercedes, you're waisting your money.
Sure they look great and are comfy, but they are heavy as S*** and are very slow.
Great on the Freeway doe.
I would rather get the E350.Now that car has a slightly biger engine but performs sooooo much better, and is much faster than the E320.

Totally different cars. The 320E is the standard Mercedes sedan. A good highway car with lots of electronic features. This is both a strong point and the source of reliability problems. For instance, the 320E brakes will recognize a panic stop and will be able to apply the brakes faster. The windshield wipers adjust their rate according to the amount of rain! Due to the complexity of the electronics the E320 gets a below average reliability rating. The engine is a reliable, but sedate performer in the E class. The same engine in the C class is pretty peppy. The new 350 engine has more valves and is a lot snappier performer. So, if you really love top down driving or spirited driving stick to the ZR. If you need a road car that takes passengers and luggage, consider the E320. I can't decide so I have both a ZR for summer driving and a C320SportAWD for snow (a strange combination that is no longer available).

Another reason why I didn't go for the Mercedes SLK 350 or a Mercedes sedan. It's not about the brand name to me. I could care less how people typecast other people in cars. Go with what you want.

Build quality on Mercedes is terrible. Many things break and are very expensive to fix. You will yearn for the days of tire feathering.

Dude you are comparing 2 totally different cars here.
I am not going to bad mouth the E because I love the car, and have driven it many times, because at my job we are pushed into buying Mercedes with our car allowances and I am the rebel with the Nissan. I have a roadster, and many times I wish I had a back seat, and God forbid storage space for more than 3 bags of groceries, but if I ever decide on a sedan the E is definitely on the top of my list, but at least a E350. But I don’t think I could ever give up the fun of the roadster for the sedan. Not there in my life yet, DINK's here so no kids. Maybe you are in a different situation, it’s up to you. But don’t even think the E will be anywhere as fun to drive as your roadster; now if you wanted an SLK55 then I would say go for it.

So true. Half of my family owns Mercedes, and come the holidays I get to hear all of their "whine" stories, etc...yet they still buy nothing but Mercedes year in and year out.

Z all the way.

Well, that depends on what you want, most people like the MB for the name. Do you want driving enjoyment or to be seen in a MB. I have a PPW ZR as well. If I face the same choices, I would keep the ZR. No contest. There is no sparks for me driving the E. While the smile is long lasting in the ZR.

Depends on what you need the car for. Practicality=E, fun=Z.
