Anyone race with the roadster?
I don't usually race my car but man i got picked on 2 times in last 2 days...first was a beamer, I dont think it was an m3, I was slowly passing him up on the freeway just minding my own business, when i looked over and i can see his car jerk as though he just downshifted.... well hek, i downshifted too.. rpm at like 5K floored...looked over and the beamer just passed by...wtf?
lol .
then today...v6 accord coupe (05 model i think ) tailgating me looking for some action, i knew when i made this right turn at the light , he was gonna hauled ***...sured enough, as soon as i turned right, i heard a chirp from behind and saw him coming at me lightning speed pulled up right next to me....i kept it at 2nd gear and floored it...and i pulled a little bit but not much....was never able to completely lose him, then there was traffic....
i really don't race my car..but i kept getting picked on and i get the itch sometimes...but man i realize my car is super slow
, maybe cuz of big fat tires and heavy sound system....anyways that's my story , no flame please

ya prob ur system (very nice btw) is too heavy my roadster is stock and i kick it sometimes can't say i get picked on, but an accord would be an easier kill if it wasn't for the extra wieght
I don't street race and rarely do I ever get challenged. I've done auto X, HPDE (road course) and drag strip racing with my TT'ed '04 roadster. I've had a blast doing all 3 kinds of racing.
With the Roadster already weighing in higher than a coupe and your added weight, you are definitly at a disadvantage on any normal street start. If you have something like 20" wheels to boot I wouldn't even give people a second thought if they threw a rev my way and just enjoy a great looking vehicle. You would have to make some pretty serious mods to make up for all the weight you added to the car. Temptation is a bitch sometimes though.
I know it's shortcomings with the weight and it is more of a cruiser. I did have some RSX tail gate me as we were entering a windy on ramp in the freeway. Needless to say I throttle steered with ease and then I hear tire squeel as he is 5 cars behind. Yes people do test you and it is up to you to prove a point or ignore it.
Just this past weekend I had a Redneck (FYI: I live in Houston Texas) or a guy wearing a cowboy hat in a Dodge Ram Pickup Truck come up beside me and throttle his engine. We were were going down the feeder road doing about 30mph and when I heard the engine rev and saw him in the corner of my eye jumping forward, so I dropped my 6 speed down into 2nd or 3rd gear and nailed it. I jumped out in front of him and just kept pulling ahead until about 90mph when I looked back in my rearview mirror to see him slow down and probably feeling kinda silly. When we came up to a traffic light he didn't look at me but I noticed his Dodge Ram Truck had a small tell-tale emblem on the front side of the fender and guess what it said??? Can you say "that thing got a Hemi?" Yep I blew away and embarrassed a Hemi Dodge Ram Truck with my stock Z Roadster!

I’ve never driven the roadster, but I have raced against the roadster. The roadster drivers were first time racers. Who drives the fastest 350Z matters little to me. More important is the camaraderie among 350Z owners.
If your roadster has less then 10k miles on it the engine is not fullly broken in. I noticed a huge difference on acceleration on my brothers roadster after he got 10k miles on it. My roadster only has 3k miles on it and the engine feels tight compared to my brothers roadster.
Also if you got amps/subs and what not in the your roadster it will definatly hurt your acceleration times. Weight = Bad Acceleration. Also if your a 250+ lbs guy you might want to cut back on McDonalds
If you look around you can find 19" rims that are not any heavier then 17" rims. But they cost $$$

i think i would give our cars more credit then that...i mean the coupe is only like .2-.3 seconds faster ...

I love my roadster, never really race it much. Can tell you with some work they are damn fast.. hey anyone that has one if you look under the car in the front left corner there is a huge chunk of steel used as some type of balance. We took it off my car when we did exhuast and it must have weighed 20lbs! Take it off.... didn't notice a thing.
