Default Anyone seen what happens if a ZR rolls ?

Has anyone seen/heard the results of a rollover in a Z roadster? I had a scare the other day and am now wondering what the chance of surviving would be if the car rolled with the top down

It doesn't matter if the top is up or down. If you roll your roadster you're gonna have one massive headache unless you're a midget or can make yourself real small and real fast.

m8, if the car rollsover it won't make a difference if the top is up or down. The top frame would crush under the strain of the impact.

ha yep that goes without saying, however they say in the manual that the windscreen struts are hardened steel so offer some protection, but being 6'2" i DONT THINK IT WOULD DO ME ANY GOOD

Don't even think abuot it....

It's too late now, but you should of bought a coupe. I'm basicly a ragtop person. The coupe is the first hartop I bought in 15 years. Cause of that I kept my spyder so I would have a soft top but in all those years I've never thought about a roll.

If you are really hung up on a roll, you might want to consider installing a well constructed and properly mounted rollbar.

I try to think of it this way. The Z has a five star rating in many other more likely crash scenarios. In my opinion making it a safer ride (on an overall basis) than many other "coupes" with lower ratings.

But if you flip, remember to duck.

I personally have never rolled in my life, and dont think I will, have you rolled before? What are the chances? And if you roll because of stupidity....well we all know what has happened to the last few Z drivers who crashed because of recklessness. Be safe.

Default i rolled my car

I actually rolled my '05 SB coupe. You can see pictures here.

I can personally vouch for the safety of the cabin in the coupe as I walked away from my accident without any injury whatsoever. Admittedly and stupidly no seatbelt either.

I ended up getting myself into an '06 chrome alloy roadster. You can see here.

My question is in a rollover in a roadster what will happen to the windshield. Is the windshield support hardened in any way or does that just cave in on your face if you roll the car.

Yes the windshield frame is hardened. Law requires this. Unless you get up in the air 15 feet I wouldn't expect it to collapse.
