cleaning products for roof?
Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a decent cleaning product for my soft top roof?
At the moment I am using Mothers soft top cleaner which is ok. More importantly, my car is often parked outside at work. We get pretty hot days here in Australia and I need a good protectant for the roof that will not cause it to become weak, discoloured or damaged. Any recommendations....
Thanx

When I bought my Z I asked the dealer that same question and they told me to clean it with soap and water and nothing else. I have to agree with you that something else needs to be done so I am going to keep checking your thread and see if anyone else has info. We have extreme heat here in south Texas so I know your woes.
I hope to some day get to Australia and play some golf. I hear it is very beautiful - my mom is from there and my aunt lives in Sydney.

FORMULA 2 Cleaner/Protectant from...

It cleans, protects, and will darken your top (from greyish to black) which we super black owners should love (I do!). It's a spray and a little goes a long way. No need to worry about applying it unevenly, however I apply accross the top, section by section with a microfiber cloth (soak cloth) just to make sure I cover it properly. First/Second results are quite good, as you do this 2 - 4 times (over time) you will notice how your top loves this stuff, and you will like your new top's black color.
I also use that product on All the interior (NOT THE DOORS) which makes the car look nicely black inside as well. Stuff is not at all greasy/oily so full dash/wheel, and between the seats, and the full back area (behind seats) all look a very natural black. Beats the hell out of that grey dry look if you do nothing... I would not attempt anything on our stock door panels as the doors material will most likely make anything look blotchy...
BTW: If you read my Perfect Detail Polish Post awhile back (search for it), you may already know about that stuff and their Prestige Polish, and their great leather cleaner/polish to use on burnt orange seats. I Know a few other members have been using all these products I've spoke of, with their own great results.
2nd BTW: I see PPC has changed their web site pages recently.
The formula2 product page used to say it was also used on vert tops.

Get the Raggtop kit for vinyl tops from Autogeek. Highly recommend it.-
Convertible Top Care
RaggTopp Vinyl Protectant comes highly recommended from the top manufacturers of vinyl products, like Haartz and Colgan Custom Bras. It has the best UV protection of any product on the market, and it repels dirt, grease, and oil. It doesn’t make your vinyl top glossy or greasy-looking. It will have the natural matte sheen of new vinyl.
