does anyone have a rollcage in their ZR?
hey...im new to this forum and was wondering if anyone has a rollcage in their ZR...i know some motorsports require you to have one and was wondering if anyone had it in. pictures would be nice and maybe a price. thanks
I've never seen any pictures of this. If you take the plastic covers off your existing roll bars (be carefull if you do, the clips break easy), you can see that there is plenty of room to weld in a custom taller roll bar.
As far as pre-fabricated kits go.....I've never seen one.

VRT had a ZR and ran into the same problem. They have a custom cage builder who they went to and he couldn't find any way to do a custom cage and still be able to have the top be fully functional.
Most motorsports events will consider the OEM rollover protection of the ZR "good enough" unless you are running really really high speeds. If you really want to get into track racing then trade it in on a coupe. There are plenty of options for the coupes. Or buy an old 280Z or RX7, hell even a Miata and turn that into your track car.

I am running into these problems now. Technically under NHRA rules, a ZR running less then 13.5 in the 1/4 will need a functional rollbar and under 12 requires a Roll Cage. (That being said my track has not said anything to me yet for running high 12's and no bar cage.
Track events (road racing) is much more stringent I have been told. I have been told at VIR, Summit and 2 other courses that without a complete rollbar with forward facing side bars, they will not allow me on their tracks.
I am in the process of talking to 3 different companies on getting a custom cage put in. ALL have agreed it would have to be a removable/bolt in cage and while the cage is in the top MUST be up and will not be able to come down. I can live with this. I figure if I am going to race the top up is fine, No problem.
Touch back with me in a couple of months and I hope to have this completed by then.

EDIT: Driftk1d, where did you see that car (What show/What location). I have been looking for that damn car, so I can get some ideas on mounting points for my cage...
