Default Trunk Lid Support

Has anybody thought of a way to get the trunk lid to open completely after pressing the release button? What I mean is, when you press the FOB button, the trunk lid currently lifts 1/2", I want it to open the whole way (then you don't have to put your beer down to lift the trunk lid up).

BUMP.

Come on guys.... Nobody has thought about this?? Imagine walking up to your car in a parking lot with a 24 of Sleeman Cream Ale (Budweiser for you American folks) under your arm..........and all you do is press the keyfob and the trunk opens up all the way (like a minivan hatch).

Now that would be a sweet piece of action!!

Alright…..I guess I can see how this could perceived as a joke. I’m suggesting we incorporate a feature in a minivan on our beloved Z. But don’t knock it till you try it. When I think of the number of times I come out of the Home Depot for example with my hands full and I have to put all my crap on the ground to lift my trunk lid up, I think this would be a great mod.

man, you're not suppose to drive your ZR to Home Depot. It's a pimp car.

LOL.. funny thread. Dude, your lid pops up 1/2 and inch? You can't tell the difference with mine.

And Bubble's right about the Home Depot. Allthough I do it if I'm going for a small tool or something. Anything to drive it, I guess.

Ha ha......you guys would crap your pants if you saw some of my trips to the Home Depot. Once I had 6 full length 2by4's slung out the passenger side over the wind deflector and hanging over the trunk (with the top down of course).

I really didn't think a trunk opener was that crazy of an idea. Some guys over in the body forum are looking into magic touch sensitive doors that open by actuators when you touch the door.

That’s not a bad idea, and is doable; I’m thinking that Nissan did not make it open all the way up in case it accidentally opens while you're driving. To make the trunk open all the way, you’ll need a spring and place it between the trunk and the car....... that way as soon as the trunk pops, the spring will give it enough push to open it. Just keep in mind that you may need a harder push to close it Another thing that you may look into, there are some parts that can be removed from the trunk to make it lighter... good luck
