I guess I'll never have to bother with mine since it's already seperated and ready for replacement.

The top s made of a cloth-like vinyl material. I originally used raggtop for cloth tops, then switched to the vinyl protectant. Top looks much better (darker & more shine) using the vinyl protectant.

How often to apply depends on how much the top is exposed to the elements. I gently scrub the top using a soft brush and water every time the car gets washed and use the raggtop kit to clean and protect every 3-4 months.

That top is something I was wondering about, although I plan on garaging mine all the time with the top down.

That brings up a question I have, which is whether it is better to keep the top up while in the garage or leave it down. Which is easier on the top over time?

My car is used on average once per week. I store it with the top up when it's in the garage. Excerpts from the user's manual (2005):

p. 3-28: "Store the vehicle with the top closed if it is not to be used for long periods. Keeping the top stowed for long periods may cause wrinkles on the surface of the top."

p. 7-3: "After cleaning, always be sure the top and its storage are completely dry before opening the top. Opening the top while it is wet or damp may cause interior water damage, water stains or mildew on the top."

(Since she often gets washed before being put away, the top gets put up for that reason, too.)

Hope that helps,
Jen

The top material you will be applying the protectant to is Vinyl. The Raggtop for Vinyl is a very good product. I hear 303 is also good. But, the Raggtop is recommended by most top manufacturers.

You can apply it as often as you like. I apply the Raggtop every other washing.

The top should be stored up.

It is not recommended to put the top up and down in temps below 40 degrees. Keep in mind Vinyl is still plastic. It expands in the heat(softens) and contracts in the cold (hard and brittle). Putting the top up and down in cold conditions can reduce the life of the top material and can increase the chance of seperation at the seams.

Well said, I use the 303, and once I am out of it, I will switch to Ragg Topp!

Likewise. I do like 303 for the interior though. If you go on 303's website someone has wax their mustang with it.

thanks for posting this, I had planned to keep the top down almost all the time including when it is in the garage.
