Default Try to sell my roadster no luck!

I know you guys will blast me for this but I've had my 04 SB roadster advertise on cars.com and autotrader.com for a month. The asking price is $30,000.00 negotiable. It has 4200 miles, excellent condition, garage kept, 3M clear bra, and an extended warranty. Any suggestions besides lowering the price, maybe looking for a different way of advertising. I need some help? Thanks!

The reason why I'm selling is not being used and got accepted to go to graduate school.

What trim line?

I think your price is a little high. Have you gone to www.edmunds.com? You could check their TMV for private sales and see what results you get.

New, left-over '05s are selling right now for 31 - 34k, depending on options and dealer, so asking 30k for a used one is maybe a bit optimistic.

That said, presentation in your ad can make all the difference. I see you're in MD. Are you in the Washington Post advertising range? Try putting an ad in with a picture, stress the "like new" condition. Have you done the recommended oil change (should have done at 3700 miles)? Say "service is up to date."

Leather interior? Side airbags? Remember to mention significant options like that.

Good luck!

Your Car is realistically going for about $22K dealer, $25K Private. It sucks, I have the same car you do and I couldnt trade it if I wanted to.

I based the price from NADA.com, its an enthusiast model with the 18 touring wheels. The oil has been changed twice -1,000 and at 4,000 miles. Not sure if it is posted in the Washington Post. The ad has pictures with both top up and top down. The ZR has not been driven much for the past 2 years that is why it has low miles averaging between 2,200 a year. I have a daily driver (Tacoma). Just need to sell this so I can go back to school. I might have to drop the price maybe between $500-$1,000. Wish me luck!

According to Edmunds, you are just a little on the high side. I just ran the TMV estimate. An Enthusiast with no options is around 27,000; with the 18" wheels and the low mileage, around $29,940.

Since you've gotten no bids after a month, that tells you either you're too high for your market or your ad is not compelling enough.

Try asking $28,500 and really put thought into the ad presentation. Have someone look it over for you, and be willing to re-write if needed.

Where do you get those prices from?

$30K is not an unreasonable listing price for that car....at all!

location location location determines the price on everything from cars to homes. which is why kbb and edmunds asked for your zip code.

Might not be "unreasonable" in your mind, but if after a month, there are no bids, then something's gotta change. Price, presentation, or location, and I'm guessing the first two would be a lot easier to change than the last one.

SQ40, were you looking at coupe prices? He's trying to sell a roadster. Add 4 - 5k to coupe prices for that.

I beleive new 2004 Enthusaists went for 36k MRSP, Remember even tho it only has less then 5k miles on it, you automaticly lose about $4k just driving off the lot when you bought it. 2 years still takes it toll on cars even tho there not used, a more realistic price is around $28k for your car.. Also being your from the North East, convertaibles are not as popular as they are back here in sunny California... Here in California you might of been able to get $30k for it.. Especially with summer coming...

You might still get what you want for it, youll just have to sit on it for awhile

Nope, 2004 ZR Enth, w/5AT and 5,000 Miles; 6MT is a bit less, so that is where I got my 22K Trade, 25K Private as a realistic price.

Well, this is no help to the purpose of the thread, but reinforcement for those of us who just "had to have it" and paid full price when the roadster first came out. Mine's an early 04 SB Touring, fully optioned with 18's, etc.

I think I'm going to just keep driving the snot out of it for a very, very long time. No sense in lamenting over getting raped over resale in the first few years of ownership - just drive it to the max and enjoy.

New cars are not investments - they're passion. It's important to accept that going in . . .

Come on dude. You said you are going to grad school. You gotta be smart enough to understand this common sense. No need to ask question about lowering the price. It's not who you advertised it's about the freaken price. If You were to sell your car for $10,000 ...believe me, people know where to look for you.

Might be accurate for WV, but in the suburbs of Washington, add about $3,000 to everything you quoted, per Edmunds.

No offense, but your response is idiotic!

He was asking for some ideas....at least he didn't ask a question that could be answered by his OWNER'S MANUAL!

It's not 42k miles, bu 42c - 42 hundred, not thousand.

As he said, he hasn't driven it that much and only puts on about 2200 miles per year.
