what about my golf clubs???
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok Ok, I drove one. First impression is that I cannot see out the back of the car. Other than that, I liked it… I am looking to see how prevalent the Turbo is and what I’d have to pay for one later this year or perhaps an 08 ( or slightly used 07 – I’ll be selling the vette before this buy).
I also drove a 350Z. Whatever I get has to have the top down / off option. I love an open cockpit. The 350Z was slow!!!! Makes my point: Horsepower means nothing, torque is what sets you back in the seat and makes the car fun to drive.. not HP. I took the 350Z back along with its 40,000 price tag and said no thanks to the salesman. ( now before anyone that has one gets their feelings hurt it is one fine looking car, but simply does not have the HP and power I need in a car. I had a 1977 280Z that was fast years ago… how they could take a car like that and remove the fun factor is beyond me).
Now for the most important question: Will a set of golf clubs fit in the trunk? Must be some avid golf addicts here along with me ??? Yes? What say you??? Yea, or No?

whatever...let him get his tq from a sky
.....either way he doesnt sound like he knows crap about either car. i love people who think they know what theyre talking about but they really dont. It makes things really amusing.

I agree!! i owned a regular solstice [same as sky] poor quality and gutless i was going to get the gxp but with quality probs and cheap inside and after 110 mph the turbo runs out big time the Z was the car i went with . I love the power and it's stock think i will keep it that way . I like the way the Z keeps pulling hard except 6th gear and do not expect it to.
Hey let him have his Solstice (GXP?) and be happy. I'll take the Z any day over the Pontiac - mainly for the following reasons:
A. The Z looks better and is just as fast (or faster) in the 1/4 mile
B. The Z has a useable trunk - I like being able to have a weekend getaway wtih my wife and have the top down.
C. The cheap hard plastic interior and "cupholders" in the Solstice are a joke.
D. The Z is a Japanese car - better build quality, reliability and resale value.

That post, compared to many of the posts on this forum, is 100% sensible. He said himself he owned a 280Z and loved it. Most of you guys have never owned a GM, let alone driven a GM, yet you bash them for all you're worth. My dad has owned GM vehicles since before I was born and still buys them, if that tells you anything. I ordered my 2007 Sky Red Line today. When I was checking one out on the lot I was handily impressed and quickly ordered one (actually I ordered two, one at two different dealerships to see which comes first).
He presented his opinion respectfully and simply said it did not have the power to pull its weight. I disagree, but I respect his opinion. I think the Z pulls fantastically in a straight line, but it's the heaviness of the drive that did it in for me.
If you want to see a bunch of morons, check the "I just got my Red Line" thread. Or any thread about an STi on here. There are many ignorant users here and sometimes it embarasses me to tell myself I'm a member of this forum. There are, however, many great users and I plan to post here long after I sell my 350.

The Z Engine has a very linear pull thru the revs, where as a Turbo gives you that jolt which gives you the sense that your going faster then you actually are.
I think he might be surprised if he saw a race between a Z and Sky... The sky is a few ticks faster (0-60 in 5.5 seconds compared to the Z Roadster 5.7) but I don't think I would call the Roadster Slow... To me anything under 6 seconds is pretty fast IMO...

The guy shows his ingnorance in his torque is makes a car faster than hp debate. GM's are compete pieces of crap, I grew up in an American only family and once I got out on my own I have NEVER and hope to NEVER own an American car.
American cars are famous for low end torque which gives you a kick in the pants and the illusion of speed and accelleration. It took me awhile to get used to the feel of the speed in the Z, now I appreciate it's very linear accelleration as opposed to 80% of the kick taking place in the first 30% of the tach. The 0 - 60 times between the two show that he is being duped by the detroit trick of low end torque.
PS I gave a guy who owned a solstice a ride in my Roadster and he was cursing his "piece of crap solstice"(his words not mine) by the end of the trip.

I have owned 5 GM's and all were general mistakes! thw only reason i had so many is the place i worked for union taconite mine. owned 3 mopar viehicles 1 was great 2 a piece of dog waste. 2 fords both good , 4 imports mitshubiti [spelling] 3 nissans out of the 4 imports replaced 1 fuel pump long after warantee was up and they replaced it free.
Most of you on this forum will say to buy a bmw or vette and so on thats what i like about this forum. open minded and not so hung up on 1 make of car that you are blind to other makes.
that being said I just wanted to say it's nice to be on a forum where it's not all *****ing and arguing about how great 1 car is and the rest are nothing but lower forms of transprtation than their GREAT car. and belive me the rearends and diffs on the solstice sky's are junk oh and the cadilac cts's . I had so much backlash and whine with only 9k on that car it scared me into not buying the gxp version that I had orderd for 6 months. the Z is 3 times the roadster.
Oh and I have been on the solstice forum for over 1 year so I do know what i am talking about

Every GM car I've owned, or drove for work has sucked. The suckage was less than Ford, but still high. I've had good luck with Dodge, and if I had to choose a NA company, I'd go with them... but I don't... so no NA cars for me
Keep in mind there are 3 things the Solstice has that the Z will never have:
1. It's ugly from the front
2. It's ugly from the rear
3. It's ugly from the side
Oh, and I think it looks horrible with the top up. I haven't driven one but I have sat in both the Solstice and Sky - the fit and finish just isn't up to Nissan's.

Ah man I know, that's all my dad's bought forever, because he used to work with GM.. or his company did, anyways he and I get lifetime GM discount. It's just alot of trouble after 70k miles +, a pain in the ***. My 1st car, and Olds Bravada, was nice and had amenities but we had to replace so much **** on it. It's hard to change my dad's mind. The G6 GTP coupe is good for a GM.. but the new Altima coupe looks awesome.. and way better quality. Unfortunately.. he's the one with the money haha. SIGH.
