Default Got nailed with a heavy foot on the way to Vegas!

Had the Z going 145 up hill Monday morning on the way to Vegas. Luckily my wife told me to back it down as we reached the crest of the hill. There was construction just over the ridge and the speed limit dropped from 75 to 65. A speed trap was set up right there. My radar went nuts, but not soon enough. He got me going 105 in a 65. The fine was $502. Don't know what it'll do to my insurance yet.

What I do know is that if I was still doing 145, they would have cuffed me and towed the car. WHEW!

Gotta tell you though guys, at 145, I was sitting at about 4900 RPMs and she wanted to go, go, go!

No sway or feeling of instability at all. Had the TEIN coil-overs tightened all the way down.

You might be able to plead it lower in court or fight it altogether.

I was going to say, this may be a ticket where it may pay to invest in a good traffic lawyer. I would imagine insurance would love to jack your rates for a 105 in a 65.

In January, I got busted on the 405 going 167mph in my Paxton supercharged 05 Mustang GT at 2:30 AM. I got arrested and my car was impounded. My attorney ended up getting my violation reduced to a misdameanor with no fines, but I had to sell my car in return.(Now I have a Z, and much happier)

I did however had to pay a $340 fine for littering. The jackass cop gave me a ticket for spitting out my cigarette. Keep in mind, I had my hands outside my window, so I couldnt properly dispose my cigarete.

My attorney charged me $600 for his service. Over all, I made out!!!!!

LOL......... you also get about 5 news helicopters along with 2 State Trooper Helicopters.

I guess if you go near the airports(no fly zone), and find a place to hide. Then your a fugitive.

I guess $502 ain't bad for a speeding ticket when my friend's ticket for running a red light was $400+....hope your insurance doesn't go up that much....can u still do traffic school??

they should have arrested you. anything over 100mph is wreckless driving.

I wish I was cool enough to drive that fast, risking my life and the lives of many other people.

Well I'm driving home tonight about 9:30, and I notice a police car far up ahead, so I back down to about 63 to 65 (it's a 60 MPH zone, 6 lane interstate, grass median). The jurisdiction is probably the lowest rent area of the metro area I live in, so these guys are not the cream of the crop, say like our state troopers, who are a step above. So this cop is screwing with a young guy in a new model Mustang, slowing down and pulling in behind him, various crap like that. The Mustang would change lanes, cop would pull in right behind him. It's obvious he wants to mess with people. There are only about 3 or 4 of us riding on this side of the highway with the squad car. My radar detector is on, set to only light up if a radar signal is detected. The cop is triggering his radar on and off, so I am aware of this. I know he has probably seen my radar detector light up as he slowed down to get behind all of us. I am in the middle lane and come upon a really slow vehicle, doing about 50 I guess. I slow down and when finally doing about 55, put on my blinker and pull into the passing lane and pass him, I probably got up to about 63 to do so, as I was watching my speed. About a minute later he races up behind me, blue lights flashing. I'm thinking "now what", and pull over. He comes up to the car, I hand him my license and registration, and he asks me if I know why he pulled me over. Of course I answer "no Sir". He says , "well when you passed that slower vehicle in the middle lane do you know how fast you were going"? I respond "about 63 to 65". He say "NO, I clocked you doing 74 MPH. Now I'm looking dumbfounded and being polite, but I'm thinking "you stupid piece of s**t, my detector didn't even go off this time, and you are only messing with me cause you previously saw my radar detector and I'm driving a Z". We all here know how radar works here, there were vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed on the other side of the highway, and with no divider, just a grass median, "IF" he had actually triggered his radar at that time, someone else would be responsible for that speed, but I don't think he even triggered it at that point. I am also thinking "I have been riding in traffic with you for about 10 minutes now, do you really think I am stupid enough to punch it up to 75 in a 60 right in front of you"? No offense to you younger guys here, but this guy was about 25 and a PFC. I think he was screwing with me because I was driving a nice detailed '06 Z with a radar detector, and the Mustang had just taken an exit ramp. Additionally, I think he wants to make a name for himself, write lots of tickets and impress his boss. Then, I can't locate my insurance card so he writes me a ticket for that as well. I can go see the judge and provide proof of insurance and get that one thrown out
($232 ticket), but that's a pain in the ***, my time is valuable, but of course I will have to. Man this irritates me. If I complain to the judge it's my word against his, and I will loose. For $128 it's not worth getting an attorney to fight it. As you can tell this really made my night.
And btw, I don't condone excessive speed or highway racing, but this was ridiculous.

good to hear you got a Z man, but if you really want keep your Z from getting impounded it would be a good idea to arm yourself with some night Vision and infrared goggles and turn you headlights off when driving at that speed at 2:30 am...
