Removable hardtop?

They're still working on it. I spoke with one of the guys at the shop and he said that it's still going full force. No worries it's just a waiting game at this point. I couldn't get more info cuz I was running late for a meeting.

Im just going to buy a new soft top in about a month. I doubt there will be a nice hard top available any time soon. Maybe I just jinxed it and they will come out with one now in about a month lol.

I just spoke with Smoothline. The project is almost complete. I was quoted before June! It's not gonna be cheap though... You are going to drop around 2k. Sounds like they will have various options too. The best thing everyone can do is, email and call them. He (smoothline) had no idea people are even talking on the forums.

smoothline has been saying they are almost done... FOR OVER A YEAR! At this point it seems stupid to wait. They might as well stop working on it.

that was a premature bust... haha just went to smoothlines site after posting and have my tail between my legs because the z one is "available"

I don't know about it anymore... doesn't look all that great. I guess they didn't really dual hump as they stated in their press release. I was expecting it to look more like their corvette model. Here's some pics and info down below:
The 350ZR removable hardtop by Smooth Line is getting close to production and the results are even better than expected. Enhanced looks, performance and comfort are now available for your ZR .These are photos are of our prototype which is shown without rain guards and weather seals and is finished in a flat primer coating. The rear brake light will be visible thought the window. It is the exact concept of our coming production ZR hardtop. When finished in the matching body color your Z roadster will transform into a completely new coupe and will turn heads of enthusiasts and car lovers.
It will be manufactured as a fiberglass composite and is estimated to be 40# or less but super strong. Initial installation will be relatively simple and the normal on /off process (latching and delatching) will be easy and fast. Simply lower the convertible top in the normal position, lift the hardtop in position and latch .Very easy and requires only minutes. No tools will be required.
The interior will be completely upholstered in a choice of sound deading headliners in a variety of colors.
Everything is included: latches, soft rubber weather seals, exterior rain guards and rear window to insure a "factory" look, fit and finish.
A specially designed Smooth Line Hardtop Carrier is available to safely store it when not in use. All Smooth Line Hardtops are custom made to order. Delivery time will be based upon order backlog. Included at no extra cost is heavy duty packaging for world wide shipping. We ship world wide. North American shipments are via truck and are fully insured. Call for freight quotes.
Initial production is expected to begin in March 2011 and orders will be shipped in the order they are received. We are expecting a big demand so as the order backlog increases delivery time will increase.
As an incentive we are offering special "Pre Production pricing" and even lower pricing on our "Touring Edition".

I was wanting this so that I could have it on and track my car, but I couldn't keep waiting. Just went with a 8pt rollcage that will work with my soft top and that I can unbolt everything forward of the seats and still street my car.
I was also disappointed that they didn't do the double hump like they were initially discussing. That would have been hawt enough to consider buying the top too just for the styling & custom look.
