When I go the car used, the top didn't have any tears. I used a convertible top cleaner and my tear showed up shortly after. Those of you who have had tears, are you using a cleaner for the top? (I am curious if the cleaner softened the top material.)
Did any of you go through soft cloth car washes?
I have a tear on one side and the material on the other side seems really weak. I suspect I could poke my finger through with no problem. (Other parts of the top don't seem that way.)

I'll try to post some better pictures of the creases that area already showing up. On the original top I was using 303 cleaner and conditioner at least twice a month. On the new top I see the creases and haven't applied any cleaner or conditioner yet. I really think that there's pressure in the same place every time the top goes down. It's like anything else that gets folded on itself repeatedly. I'm in CA and unless the temp is below 55 or above 90, the tops down, so that's about every day of the week that it goes up and down at least twice.

just got my top replaced "good will" by the dealer. My 04 only has 13k on it. YAYA! I am fortunate to have a great service department! Axles were also done... and clutch! I think the damn thing went out while it was sitting! Anyways.. Now I need to figure out what the hell to do about the tires! Horrible! I feel like a mooch getting all of this **** done, but it seems as though it all has happened at once... I has the seperation at the seams AND tiny cuts!

Here's a pic of my cuts. The material just deteriorates and cracks open. Once it starts a small slit the size of your finger tip, it goes to this in one month.
Excuse the "Ghetto Fix Marks" of the Ragtop. This is an expense I can't afford right now. Damn Nissan's material!

same top problem
First it was barely noticeable. I put the top down, it grew to 1/2". Then, my showoff bro put it down and it grew an inch. Any suggestions as to how to fix it short of full replacement?

it's just going to get worse. Nothing you can do but buy a replacement. It cost around 4-500 for the top and than another 450-800 for install. These are the best prices i can find without bringing it to a crappy back yard place.
I got a new top from nissan, just need to install mine.

I hava similar cuts, but its right near the top driver side of the soft top. I think the metal on the motor is gettin hot and burning it(i can see burn makrs from the inside). It was small at first, but now its 2inch big, i dont have warranty. Is it possible to put something below the softop and the metal piece to prevent this from happening?

tear solution
I just talked to an upholstery shop owner who does these kind of repairs for a reasonable price, so it is likely you could find a shop near you who can help. He seals it with some kind of heated patch from the inside. A brand new top from Nissan is outrageously expensive!

$H!T man... Those are the same tears on my top... I was told by a shop that it was done on purpose... so I believe they were mistaken... I was thinking the same on putting duct tape since It rained the other day.
