Default Passenger seat removed, TOP NOLONGER FUNCTIONING!

Has anyone with aftermarket seats found a remedy for this function.

This is kind of a time now problem for me so any definitive answers other than, "Well maybe you could try this..." would be greatly appreciated and I will have my cell phone on.

Thanks
Kevin

Passenger seat removed, TOP NOLONGER FUNCTIONING!

My guess is since passenger seat was removed that the sequencing for top is now incomplete. 1.Windows open, 2.seat moves forward then 3. top begins to open. Number 2 is no longer happening so #3 does not follow. I'm not sure that if you re-installed the original seat and hit the cancel switch on back side to prevent seat back from moving forward prior to opening, if that would be a fix or not once you replaced original with other seat.

from manual

If you need to cancel this function or when a
child restraint is installed in the passenger seat,
push the seatback tilt cancel switch to the
CANCEL position. For the seatback tilt cancel
switch, see “Tilting and reclining passenger’s
seat from driver’s seat” in the “1. Safety —
Seats, seat belts and supplemental restrain system”
section.

Good luck

Bud

You must have cancelled the function by flipping the switch on the back of the passenger seat. Take a look at the back, you can't miss the huge switch midway on the back.

There is a connection between the passenger seat control and the soft top lock switch. Interrupt the soft top lock switch operation and the top's not going to work.

I assume when you removed the seat, the B353 connector was attached to the seat.

(Just a thought) If you could remove the seat control and wire harness from the pass seat leaving everything connected, then perhaps there would still be continuity between the control unit and the switch. Tricking the system to thinking the seat is still there. Strap it all together with plastic zip ties and place it under the aftermarket seat.

Just curious, when you remove the factory seat, does the airbag light come on? I'd think it should.

no, the airbag does not come on and i'm in the process of removing all the electronics in the seat to test this. i'm about 8 hours away from completeing my clutch and twin turbo install so this is low priority at the moment...

Thanks for the help guys. I'm terrible with electronic **** so this may as well be in french.

Take your time with it and follow the service manual to see what systems are tied together.

Good luck with the TT project. Look forward to pics!!

Try this-
Link

When I removed my seat, the top stopped working. Once I put the seat back in, it started to work, but my Airbag light was stuck on. I don't think an ECU reset removed the light.

Not So Fast!

On the left, do you see the bookmarks for the .pdf it opens?

Click on the line labeled "QUICK REFERENCE INDEX"

It takes you to the table of contents page for the manual. Each line in the table of contents is a link to the appropriate section.

So if you click on EI EXTERIOR INTERIOR, it will take you to that section. (Actually click on the image of the manual.)

The page count you are looking at is for that section only. So using the sections, you have access to the full manual.

I had the same problem. If you take your wiring off the bottom or your stock seat and keep the connectors connected, then you can just tie it under your aftermarket seat. You need to remove the white box that is under the passenger seat and the wiring that hooks into it. Thats what I did, and my top finally went down. Otherwise, you have to put your stock seats in because the window goes down, then the seat, then the top....gl sorry for the not so clear help.

Yeah well I got rid of the seat controller with the seats like a jackass lol. I manually opened the tonneau and got the top removied. I have my roadster down to around 2850 pounds. I'm taking it to the weigh station monday.
