Unhappy soft top info

Hello all. I have been reading all the problems with the top and Im' starting to believe I bought the wrong car. My top seems ok but wow,,, down the road worries me. I bought it used and I dont have any information on the soft top or the sound system, I was able to get a owners manual on pdf. but it just has general info on car.
If anyone has any spare info maybe from a previous car I would be glad to buy it or pay the postage if you could send it to me long enough to copy and return. Or if you know of a site where I can get it on pdf. let me know.

thanks ......... Kenny

the owners manual i got gives a lot more the just "general" information. i don't consider operating steps or emergency data to be "general" information.

and besides that the only other thing you can get is a service manual or the warranty booklet.

but see, that is the beauty of auto forums like this one. you can search and read posts made by other owners and ask them questions on how to fix it. that is ten times more useful than some piece of paper (except when that answer can be found on that paper, then you are just wasting a question).

Every used car has its issues. It doesn't mean your top will fail.

Correction - the top on the 350z is vinyl, not fabric.

But OP - don't let the problems you read get you down. That is part of the problem with auto forums - people get on here to post thier problems, looking for help, etc. A LOT of us do not have any problems/issues - but we don't post that every day

Good luck

You seem a little too stressed about a problem that hasn't or may never occur. All drop tops can eventually have a problem, from BMW to Chevy. My friend aunt, her BMW top stop going down a couple weeks ago. Imagine the repair bill on that. I can bet its A LOT more then getting a nissan top fixed.

Edit: then again, getting ANYTHING fixed out of warranty is going to be expensive, lol

All cars will have problems. It is a trade off between positives and negatives. The ZR has given me so much enjoyment over the years (high positive), a potential soft top problem (medium negative) is a risk I am willing to accept. Don't worry about it and enjoy the car.
