Ditto. Less than @55 degrees......usually takes 2 or 3 times, but it will work. Above that temp - it works well.

Mine did that as well. It wasn't when it was cold though. I'm trying for the life of me to remember if I did something to correct it or if it just went away, but I really can't remember. I want to say something was blocking it in the area where it is stored and it was getting jammed.

I never had that problem even when I stored my car outside in Indiana winters. It sounds fairly common though, so I guess I'll just count myself lucky.

I test drove an '05 last week and it wouldn't open quite all the way. It was a very cold day. The service tech at the dealer said it's good to grease the hinge joints (I think that's what he called them) at least once per year. After he did that it opened and closed without a hitch. Maybe some WD-40 in the right spot will do the trick.

When they demo'd my car to me it was quite funny it did it then and they panic'd until the experienced tech came out shut my passenger door and said ok now try it. Apparently the mechanism has multiple locking points for example the passenger seat. The other is the doors have to be set also along with the windows which is why they roll up before you see it moves. Its worked flawlessly for me since I made sure those points were done along with keepin pressure on the brake. Or then again could this be coincidence too? lol you never know theres alot of people who said its happened to them too, but try this out see if this helps.

Default looking like this?

After I got rear-ended it started happening to me, but I didn't see anything in the way. I push on it a little and it worked fine for 4-5 days then started again. Is this what its looking like?

I never pushed it - but once it did make a loud 'click' or something like that - then go down. I really sounded like two parts of the mechanism were coming into contact - it pushed past - then it went all the way down.

Again - in warm weather - it works 100% of the time on the first try (for me).

Hope your motors aren't going out...

My roof did that a few times BEFORE I had all the motors replaced, but it can also stop like that if it's too cold also because the roof material is stiffer and won't stack like it needs to.

I don't have my owners manual in front of me but I think there is a note to the effect that it is not recommended to operate the top below 45 degrees F.

The Nissan Owner's Manual "Caution"
*Do not operate the top when the temperatur is below 32 F..(0 C). this may result in damage to the top material or operating system.
*Do not open the top when t is wet or damp. this may cause interior water damage stains or mildew on the top material
*Be sure to turn off the rear window defroster switch. Never turn it on while the top is being operated or fully opened. The heat may damage the material.

That what happen when you try to close the top...the material get very hard or stiff when it cold...I brother work for Nissan dealer : he said " In the cold the top get very stiff and hard...the top motor work very hard to try to close the stiff top material...caution may damage the motor and top material..pro-long the top material life...Do not open the top when it cold...

just saw the post, all top down's are not suppose to be opened below 50* due to the fact that you are gonna damage the top cloth streching and lesser life on the fabric. even M3 owners dont open the tops below 50*.
