350z Roadster Questions
Bought a 2005 350z Roadster in Dec 08. Since there was a fair bit of snow on the road at the time I decided to store it for the winter. Just insured the car on Friday and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend drive. What a great car to drive. Couple of quick questions......I tried all weekend to program my Homelink...no success.......is it really that difficult? I have an auto and was noticing that using the manual mode shift is pretty much like an auto, I quess nothing really replaces a 6 speed. I don't have the money right now to pour lot of money into the car , but would it be worth it to buy an intake filter or a K/N filter? The car is black and will be difficult to keep clean any quick tips for those of you with a black car? Lastly, there is a sound coming from behind the driver's seat when driving......it seems like a hard plastic rubbing on plastic sort of sound....anyone experience something similar? It is not a rattle , but more of a rubbing type of sound. I apologise for all the questions, but any input would be appreciated.
P.S I enjoy reading and experiencing the Z ownership from this site....Cheers.

As for the black car, get a good coat of polish then wax on it - repeat every 4 months.
Wow - That is a lot of questions:
1) Winter storage: Good idea. Not having it out in the salt and sand environment will be good for the paint. Just a tip on insurance: When storing it, keep it in your attached garage. Then ask the insurance company to remove as much insurance as they will allow. If there is a fire or someother act of God, the home owner's insurance covers cars INSIDE the garage. Big savings.
2) Homelink - Make sure you have the garage opener set to teach a new remote. The best way is to park the car right under the opener with the top down. Follow the directions in the manual to get the homelink flashing for learning and set the opener (the drive unit box.) Usually there's a red button near the light bulb or on top.
3) Automatics - I can't speak that language.
4) Pouring Money into a car: Just start with a few minor mods. Soon you will be pouring money into the car like a crackhead looking for his next hit.
It's all part of the ownership experience.
5) Keep the stock airbox and drop in a K&N. Otherwise a Popcharger is the next best intake mod.
6) Keeping black clean. Treat your car right. Clay bar it and seal it up. Get a good wax job on it and keep the paint clean. For the touch ups between washes, I used a Meguier's Spray Detail. (Red bottle) It's used to spray the car down when you have dust or pollen settled on the car. Some folks swear on the California Duster. Something that has been out for decades. It's easy on the car and picks up dust well.
7) Rubbing noise: You must be tall. I'm nearly 6'5" and have the seat 104% set back. That +4% is me wedging the seat into the headrest. As the body flexes, I hear squeaks there. It also appears there may be a squeak in the plastic panels behind the seats.
