Default Factory Cover for a Z - Did I get hosed?

I recently bought a cover for my Z. The pictures I see on the internet show that the cover has a pocket for the antenna. The cover that arrived in the mail today has a grommet and a note.

It says that I must either remove the antenna ( !!! ) whenever I use the cover OR install the plastic grommet to let the antenna come through the cover.

Seems to me this is ridiculous. If I put a grommet in the cover the water / snow / ice will get UNDER the cover. If I don't I need to unscrew and store the antenna every time.

Did I get a "cheap knock off" ? Or is this really how the factory cover works?

Please let me know if you have a Nissan cover.

(in case it matters I have a Roadster.)

Not sure on the roadster, but my OEM car cover for my coupe has a sleeve for the antennae, and has special lining for the muffler.

Also has a Z emblem up front and.

I believe you got hosed, but I am not 100% sure on the roadster though.

Where did you buy it, and how much?

Originally, I decided not to post where I bought it because this could just be a misunderstanding. I don't want to heap blame on the dealer until I am sure there is a problem. But since you ask... this is the OEM Z Cover from Courtest Niisan. I am only telling you this because that is how I know it is a genuine Nissan cover. (ie it's not some eBay scammer or something)

In their defense...

It is possible they shipped the wrong item.

It is possible the gromet is a spare for the locking cable gromet.

I have not opened the cover to see if it has the antenna pocket yet, since I am at work. Also, once I open it... folding it to get it back in the box will be a PITA. (I can never get a tent back in the bag either) So I was hoping to get an answer before ripping open the plastic bag and unfurling the cover. (in case I need to returnit)

I am not blaming Courtesy Nissan at this point. Their reputation here is so good that I have no reason to think otherwise of them yet. I have emailed courtest about this but no reply so far.

Talking Z COVER

I bought the cover for my Roadster from Courtesy Nissan and it has a pocket for the antenna. In addition, the cover also came with a grommet and instructions on how to install it in the cover. I'm not quite sure why they sent the grommet with it because the Nissan Z does not need one.

The part number for the cover was an actual Nissan part number and if my memory serves me correctly, the cover was $198.00 plus shipping.

Sorry to say it.......ut it sounds like you got soome kind of wanna-be knock off.

That is encouraging. Maybe my cover is fine and the gromet is not needed! Excellent!

When I get home I will open it up and check it out.

Default Good news

Good news. The guys from Courtesy emailed me and said "open it and see". So I did and it DOES have the antenna pocket.

Excellent!

So, there is no problem and the guys at Courtesy came through again. The cover fits like a glove.

I still sort of wonder why they put that gromet kit in there though....
