Yahooing in the twisties
So my ZR is now broken in, and although I've stretched the envelope a little, until now I have been driving pretty sedate.
There is a road by my house that is well paved, two lane asphalt, up the side of a mountain. There are a few gentle sweepers, but mostly they are switchbacks, 90 and 180 degree turns. And oh yeah, there are also rock cliffs on one side, and a dropoff on the other... it's about 2 miles long and gains about 1/4 mile in altitude.
So tonight I decided to give it a go. Yahoo! Up the hillss, 2nd gear, 6,000RPM, twist that wheel, lift and turn, what fun! Man, this sucker moves well, not once did I even feel any sliding our looseness. And with all that power, getting it up the top was a swift exercise indeed.
On the way down you quickly learn you are in a different world from the uphill. Tactics change, brakes are key. And what brakes! I have a stock Touring ZR, and those stoppers do very well indeed. Yahoooo again!
It felt so good I repeated it three times and only quit as I really didn't want to advertise my escape from reality too much. Fellow Zers, we have one fine automobile.....
John, grinning ear to ear and yelling Yahoo!
