2004 Roadster Tonneau Cover Problem
When opening the roof of my 2004 350Z the tonneau cover starts to open and gets about 1/4 of the way there and then cuts out, each time i press the open button it moves a little further and cuts out again. Eventually it opens fully and then allows the roof to fold back without issue.
When closing the roof the tonneau cover opens smoothly and the roof lifts up out of the storage position and closes without interuption. Initially i thought that the brake switch was the issue but now i don't as it works fine once the tonneau cover is fully open and also when closing the roof.
What interlocks are in place that shuts off the opening of the tonneau cover when the roof is still raised? It's driving me nuts and is very embarrassing in the office parking lot when you have to sit and press the button over and over to get the roof down on a nice warm evening.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are you holding the button down the whole time and keeping the brake fully depressed the whole time? Does your passenger seat have any problems with it's motor and/or switches for adjusting the seatback?

Passenger seat back movement is part of the process the system goes through when opening and closing. I learned this when I took my seats out for the rollcage and realized the top would not operate properly without the passenger seat connected.
