Default Chassis Harmonic Balancers

Grand Touring Roadster = 3602 Lbs

My Grand Touring Roadster = 3582 Lbs

The roadster has two harmonic balancers in the car. One is located on the RIGHT side of the trunk (next to the spare) and the other is located on the LEFT side of the engine bay (next to the oil pan).

I got no money to mod so I took the extra weight out of the trunk to get my fix in.

I'll probably remove the on up front next week.

Attached are pictures of the weight located on the trunk. I labled a few of the bolts to aid in the removal for anybody interested.

They are designed to dampen slight upsets of the chassis.

I don't know, I don't have a coupe but probably not.

I took both out of mine then developed a vibration at highway speeds. I thought it was the wheel so I had them balanced. It didn't cure it so I put the weights back in and the vibration went away.

Normally, speed related vibrations are a balance issue. It may be coincidence that the vibration went away when I reinstalled them.

^ oh man! thanks for posting. I haven't driven the car since. What kind of highway speeds are we talking about? 60, 70, 80?

Annoyingly between 70-75. Again, could be coincidence. It won't hurt to try leaving them off.

I've driven the car a fair amount since the removal and I have not noticed any vibration. Apparently there is also one in the middle of the car as well.

According to the article, the 3 weights and mounts for hinges add up to 100 lbs. Lies...

Any tips on how to remove the weights? I've read that getting access the one in the trunk is difficult and may result in a few broken plastic tabs.
